Looking for suggestions for a figure for 28mm "Pulp" gaming -- a figure at about 35mm so he would "tower" slightly, but not grotesquely, over normal "heroic 28mm" figures like Bob Murch's? I am SPECIFICALLY seeking a figure with the least conversion(s) needed to portray "The Hoxton Creeper," or "Lothar" from the film The Rocketeer; a character who was CLEARLY based on the Creeper
The Hoxton Creeper was a thuggish giant of a man whose modus operandi was to snap the backs of his victims with his large hands. He worked for "Giles Conover" in the 1944 Universal Pictures film, The Pearl of Death, starring Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes.
Any help? |

I'd love to see a figure of the Creeper. This is just the sort of thing Bob Murch could be tempted to make. |

Lothar was intentionally based on Rondo Hatton, the actor who played the Oxton Creeper. (Hatton's peculiar physiognomy was due to Acromegaly, though the studios put it out that it was due to getting gassed in the trenches). |

I emailed Bob Murch and gave him a gentle hint that Hatton would be a great addition to his Villans range. |

You might check HeroClix figures
they really don't have a consistent scale, so there are a number of cowled, cloaked, and well-dressed figures that slightly tower over regular 28mm figs. Tombstone is my "too tall" goon of choice:
There are a number of fedora and broad-brim hats as head transplant options (though no pork pie hats, that I know of). That said, I would buy a Bob Murch creeper figure if he made him. |

Murch did a vampire in 20s gangster attire that might do. The figure is armed with a tommy gun, but I know from experience you can easily remove the gun arm. The figures (there's also a nosferatu in the pack) are OOP, but you can sometimes find them second hand. |

Beat me to it, PaulCollins! etothepi: I like the idea of using that Tombstone clix as an intimidating thug
consider it stolen. Kinda like the Dane from Miller's Crossing, or this guy from the recent Sherlock Holmes remake

This fellow might work -- link He stands about 36mm-37mm tall and has big beefy fists. |

Thanks for the hints guyz! I am thinking that as Lothar (and Neville Sinclair) "get theirs" in the film, I may just go with "Lothar-like" for a "new" villain… Sort of… "pick up where the film leaves off," as it were. So these ideas are all very helpful! Cheers! |

I had a chance to talk to Bob Murch at Historicon this weekend… Spoke about another idea I have but forgot to mention this one! Will have to email him. |
