Does anyone sell Flashpoint 15mm USMC Amtracks in the USA.

Dennis030201 Jul 2014 6:05 p.m. PST

I'm pretty sure Mark at Scale Creep Miniatures has them or Miniatures of Chesapeake (not sure if he's still open.)

The Flashpoint website says this:

"Available from website only as this is a relatively big, labour-intensive model (lots of precise sanding)."

Miniatures of Chesapeake might have one. …I sent a few to Carl (on a promise) before I realised what a labour intensive process the model is to get right.

The model 'works' if the two flat surfaces (the enemy of casting) of the two hull pieces match nicely. This requires they be hand sanded just right. Once this is done it is ideal that the model surfaces sit flat on each other as urethane is still a relatively elastic substance , and if stored poorly (not flat) for a long time it can/will warp and the model won't 'work'.
For the numbers involved (it's a niche item I wanted ) I'd rather make them and finish them as people want them. That way I know people have the best chance of getting a best-condition product.
I store only a few at a time …sitting flat.

Is this useful ?

Maybe then Peter Pig via Brookhurst or just direct from the Pig. I've gotten excellent service from them.

Check out Irishserbs website, he makes them in 15mm, although they're currently unavailable (awaiting re casting?)

AAVP-7s?

Or Vietnam era LVTP-5s?
