"At Eurosatory 2014, the German Defense Company KMW (Krauss-Maffei Wegmann) has exhibited latest technology of modern wheeled artillery system with its new AGM Artillery Gun Module, an ARTEC BOXER Multi-Role Armoured Vehicle (MRAV) fitted with a remote-controlled turret armed with the 155mm/ 52 calibre ordnance.

The BOXER is 8x8 armoured combat vehicle produced by ARTEC GmbH (ARmoured vehicle TEChnology) industrial group. The BOXER is in service with the German and Dutch Army.

This 155mm/ 52 calibre ordnance is also mounted on the combat-proven tracked self-propelled howitzer PzH 2000 currently in service with the German army and other NATO countries…"

Wheels? I hope it isn't needed in Russia!

Does it fire on the move? That would truly be a game changer.

Completely unmanned turret, but only 30 rounds carried? Figure 3 M712 Copperhead laser-guided AT rounds, 6-7 M982 Excalibur GPS-guided HE, and now you only have 20 rounds for M864 DPICM, M898 SADARM, M795 conventional HE, M549 rocket-assisted projectile, XM1128 long-range projectile, smoke, Willie-Pete, etc.

Seems awfully light on the ammo capacity (6-7 of any given round is one or two volleys!), but I know that the shells usually weigh in at about 100lbs each…

It cannot fire on the move but can deploy and redeploy very quickly.

The 8 wheel chassis is not really a concern; it is just one example of how the turret, which is the key element, can be mounted.

The small ammunition supply is a concern; the PzH 2000 carries 60 rounds.

The bit I hate about all this lovely imformation is that their are not enough pictores ;-). We (MG) got the boxer done at 1:144 with a detachable back so we could just replace the back with a different one. Trouble is there are never enough pictures to do the CADS model of this turret. Really need at least 1 from the top to do a model.
