Hi all. I'm currently starting a little research for some fantasy armour and was wondering if you could recommend a book which contains illustrations of many different types of historical armour. I can find lots of great illustrated books which concentrate on specific periods, but none that really cover the whole dark age/medieval/renaissance. Ideally it would be great if there was a book that described comparisons too, in terms of purpose and effectiveness. Price not particularly an object.
Thanks in advance for your help!

A glossary of the construction, decoration adn use of arms and armor in all countrys and in all times.
by George cameron stone.

I have had mine for almost forty years now and it is still useful on a regular basis. not as detailed on specific periods as a book concentrating on that period but for a general book it is great. Lots ofpictures to so you know what he is talking about.

Oackeshott is outstanding when you can find his stuff. And if you have a small fortune along with you. I think I gave $100 USD 25 years ago for Record of the midevel sword. Great book, but not for the fiant of heart or thin of wallet.
