A the recent HMGS-PSW June 14th convention I ran my 20mm scenario for Omaha beach. Easy Green, Dog Red and Dog White were the scenario landing zones in Omaha landing sector.

Using an expanded Flames of War Omaha beach scenario plot (see the old Bloody Omaha and D-Day booklets), we marshaled the German and American 20mm miniatures for a large 12'x6' table format. My small gaming group uses 20mm vs. the tradition 15mm for FOW. We had collected 20mm long before 15mm came of age. So we just enlarged the infantry team basing to fit the larger miniatures, otherwise the game basically plays the same.

So our friends on the other side of Easy Green did little better. I do not feel so badly about it. Still, bad dice in terms of the landing craft not coming back did not help us. Even for the pasting we got, I still enjoyed the game. Thanks once again.

Beautiful setup, but I really question the FoW scenario. Victory for the allied troops basically comes down to being able to get your Landing Craft rolls in.

I much prefer the Battlegroup Overlord 'beach party' scenario, as you're much less dependent on your dice rolls.

Thank you all for the comments.

Lion, having played the FOW scenario now 5 times, including three "expanded scenarios with larger beach frontage", the Allies have won 3 games, the Germans two. I agree the landing craft variable is a factor but on the other hand creates some "allied tension and unpredictable results". Something for the Allied player to figure out a plan to manage the risk. Otherwise the landings will always be an Allied win I feel. Historically, my personal feeling is the landings were never in question… but FOW is just a smaller scale scenario of the bigger picture of D-day. Thank you Lion for the reviewing my scenario and tabletop terrain set up. I will look up the Battlegroup scenario for possible adaption.

Cheers from the warren. M
