Article here: link Interesting idea though, huh? Star Wars and 40K now part of the same company
:-) |
20thmaine | 27 Jun 2014 5:15 p.m. PST |
But it would be a good idea – what a synergy between toys and movies. |
John the OFM | 27 Jun 2014 5:29 p.m. PST |
And due to convoluted ownership, 40K tournaments would be on ESPN2. |
Battle Phlox | 27 Jun 2014 5:30 p.m. PST |
I don't think Disney can afford Games Workshop prices. ;) |
Feet up now | 27 Jun 2014 5:33 p.m. PST |
Oh no, they will start making cartoony figures now
. Oh wait a minute |
Doctor X | 27 Jun 2014 6:07 p.m. PST |
I can see some great movie tie ins
. |
Mithmee | 27 Jun 2014 6:10 p.m. PST |
Damm that just might have made it better. Plus we would finally get a decent 40K movie. |
JimSelzer | 27 Jun 2014 6:19 p.m. PST |
Damn is it April 1st already? |
Privateer4hire | 27 Jun 2014 8:53 p.m. PST |
Battle Phlox wins the thread. :) |
The Beast Rampant | 27 Jun 2014 10:12 p.m. PST |
Drat. Could've been another epic "what, you think we could do any worse?" situation. |
marcus arilius | 27 Jun 2014 10:14 p.m. PST |
Battle Phlox wins the thread. :)
failure to use correct emoticon will cost him points!! |
fairoaks024 | 28 Jun 2014 2:50 a.m. PST |
Because it's an obvious hoax Regards Jim

Whatisitgood4atwork | 28 Jun 2014 2:52 a.m. PST |
All those skulls and death-this-and-thats would not fit well with Disney's brand image. It seemed unlikely even before clicking. |
GoneNow | 28 Jun 2014 4:48 a.m. PST |
Because all those Pirates movies don't have skulls all over the place right? And it's not like Disney doesn't already own themselves a Death Star. |
Puster | 28 Jun 2014 5:30 a.m. PST |
I am sure Disney would succeed in making the skulls look cute. |
Coyotepunc and Hatshepsuut | 28 Jun 2014 5:37 a.m. PST |
40K doesn't have princess power. |
Vosper | 28 Jun 2014 5:40 a.m. PST |
40K doesn't have princess power. Ah, but that could be worked into the Sisters of Battle army lists/background. |
Silent Pool | 28 Jun 2014 6:25 a.m. PST |
Why? Because it is a Mickey Mouse subject. |
passiveaggressive | 28 Jun 2014 6:57 a.m. PST |
Doesn't matter who buys it, hoaxes aside, it's toast as a brand. |
Dances With Words | 28 Jun 2014 7:25 a.m. PST |
you do realize this means it IS the 'End Times'
.???? Slishfully, Sgt DWW-btod |
David Manley | 28 Jun 2014 10:38 a.m. PST |
"toast as a brand" Yup just as it has been countless times when the demise of GW has been foretold |
taskforce58 | 28 Jun 2014 3:23 p.m. PST |
Anything can be made cute if you tried hard enough:
|
Puster | 28 Jun 2014 7:37 p.m. PST |
:-) That is probably what Disney would sell after buying the brand
|
KJdidit | 28 Jun 2014 10:16 p.m. PST |
Trying to picture all those skullz replaced by Mickey Mouse ears
|
Legion 4 | 29 Jun 2014 3:33 p.m. PST |
Sounds like a highly improbable marriage made in ! |
billthecat | 01 Jul 2014 11:21 a.m. PST |
It may only be a matter of time. Frankly, I would not buy any
oh wait, I don't already
.. But I would want to go on the 'Horus Battle Barge' ride at Disneyland
StarWars, 40K, Pokemon, and Pixar all seem rather similar these days anyway
now if HASBRO bought the GW IPs
we might get some great new toys at reasonable prices
maybe. |
alpha3six | 01 Jul 2014 9:30 p.m. PST |
Hasbro would release poorly painted 35mm soft vinyl figures in blind boxes with each infantry figure costing about the same as they do now. If the market leader of a niche industry was doing badly enough to get bought out by Hasbro, Hasbro would never continue to invest money in a no growth area like model kits. |
Weasel | 01 Jul 2014 11:35 p.m. PST |
Don't forget they'd be in random packs. Fancy opening up a box and finding two tyranids, an imperial guardsman and the uber rare purple edition Phoenix Lord with +1 to all the stats of the red one? |
billthecat | 02 Jul 2014 11:44 a.m. PST |
All True. Maybe GW should consider random packaging. At least turn 40K in a blind-purchase card game rules wise. (Of course you could buy special rules and 'battle-pointz' directly from GW
) But seriously, the franchise will probably have to move to a more 'mainstream' toyish/disneyish approach eventually to maintain the bottom-line
. Strange that the video-game approach failed
and aren't 40K plush-toys available already? |
chromedog | 08 Jul 2014 2:56 a.m. PST |
I took it to be an epic troll post in the first place. Disney wouldn't buy GW. They would probably make it possible for Hasbro to do it, though (leverage them the funding?). Hasbro buying GW was a much more believable version of events.
|
SouthernPhantom | 08 Jul 2014 2:39 p.m. PST |
Obvious hoax is obvious :D There has actually been some serious speculation that GW's recent actions are a sign that the board is preparing to sell the company. |
