First of the Mark III's I've painted for All Quiet on the Martian Front.
Thinking of using this 28mm American Tankett from Spartan Games as Land Ship or Goliath.
Thanks for looking, Coabeous

Got to larf at that 'allied' star but it is fiction. |

Actually the Spartan Games model works quite well for that scale. |

After I saw the pictures I noticed a couple of places where I let the brush slip and kinda expected some one to point them out but I never expected to be lafr'ed at for posting them on the Victorian SF board. It fits the All Quiet on the Martian Front back story. What's so funny about it? |

He was not laughing at your work in general but at the appearance of the "white star" identifying mark as the "white star" appeared during WWII. But he did note that it was being used in a work of fiction. I'm sure there was no attempt to belittle your work. |

The tanks look great but I especially like the big American Tankette. That's an awesome looking model and looks perfect next to the infantrymen. |

The US Army used a Red Star marking in the Pershing Expedition as an aircraft marking. Since the white star appears on the flag, it's a natural symbol to use on American vehicles. I support your use of the white star. In WWI we used the three color roundel on our aircraft to fit in with the Allied use of roundels in Europe. We used vertical red and white stripes on the nose of our tanks just as the British did, partly because we used British tanks. Often in the US they were marked with red, white and blue stripes. Hmmm trouble with those tanks is that they look like GW vehicles with a funnel and boiler tacked on the back. |

That goliath is awesome! The rivetwork on the treads gives it that menacing, hungry look. |

Thank you Bunkermeister, The Mark Steam Tanks used in All Quiet on the Martian Front are based on Eng designs, then the American inventor's and industrialist got a hold of them. Beside's here in Texas we stick a Lone Star on just'bout anything! Coabeous |

Actually, it is a work of SCIENCE fiction. That is why they are fighting Martians
So don't worry, stick what ever you feel like on your tanks. They look great, BTW! |

The star as a US vehicle marking began in 1915, though it was red. It was changed to white with a red center dot in 1919. The dot was removed after Pearl Harbor as it was too similar to the Japanese markings. Removing the dot because it could be seen to represent Mars is a logical behavior consistent with reality. Ergo, the white star is correct. I like the tanks! |

Fred Ever wonder where GW stole the design from? |
