"Syfy has picked up a zombie action-horror drama called Z Nation, the network announced today. The 13-episode series from Karl Schaefer (Eureka, but much more important, Eerie, Indiana) will debut this fall. The show is set three years after a zombie virus has obliterated much of humanity, and our ragtag protagonists are transporting the one person who appears to be immune to the virus; their hope is that if they can get him from New York to California, where the last remaining laboratory exists, they'll be able to develop a vaccine based on his miraculous antibodies. But wait! "He hides a dark secret that threatens them all," according to Syfy's release. The hook here is obviously the zombie stuff, but some of us are far more intrigued by a vaccine-development drama." From here link Also
"The worldwide success of THE WALKING DEAD zombie show has influenced the trend of other apocalyptic series of that kind, and I have informed you before that SyFy is preparing their own zombie show Z NATION and now the cast for the new drama has been announced! To start airing later this Autumn the 13 episode series depicts the epic struggle to save humanity after a zombie apocalypse. Three years have passed since the zombie virus has gutted the country, and a team of everyday heroes must transport the only known survivor of the plague from New York to California, where the last functioning viral lab waits for his blood. Although the antibodies he carries are the world's last, best hope for a vaccine, he hides a dark secret that threatens them all. With humankind's survival at stake, the ragtag band embarks on a journey of survival across three thousand miles of rusted-out post apocalyptic America. Harold Perrineau (OZ, LOST) will play Hammond, the leader of the group headed west! Tom Everett Scott is Garnett, his second in command, while DJ Qualls plays the role of Citizen Z, a computer hacker who joins the team and helps them navigate the zombie infested terrain. TWILIGHT's Michael Welch and Kellita Smith are two disparate wanderers drawn" From Hollywood Spy.

I thought Helix was pretty good, especially for a SyFy show. We'll watch this one for the zombie aspect but I am put off by the "He hides a dark secret that threatens them all.." part. Why is there always a deep dark secret and most likely that deep dark secret is an evil government conspiracy deep dark secret. |

"and a team of everyday heroes must transport the only known survivor of the plague from New York to California" Wait. He is the only survivor? Does that mean everyone of his escort is infected but not just yet manifesting? |
