Wondering how many of you guys have Indian units for your AWI armies-how many what kind etc. Thanks, Mark |

I have tons of Indians. I mostly got them for FIW skirmishes. However , we all have a good time with the Wyoming Massacre game that I run. Local politics and all that. I have also had a massive Shrubbery Run game. However if you want to do regiment level games, they ate not very common at all. I only know of them in Saratoga scenarios and tiny units at that. |

If you are playing the raids in the Ohio River Vslley or similar then yes they are worth painting |

There were a lot of skirmish battles in New York State with 400 Indians or less on one side. Loads of cool battles. Don |

When I had 25mm AWI, I had a few dozen that did double duty in the F&I War as well. A guess worth is a matter of opinion. |

No, not for AWI but I say yes for FIW. If you want to game smaller actions along the lines of a skirmish game, then okay. But I think that FIW is much more interesting if you are looking to fight skirmish battles which include a good amount of Indians. I am not saying that there were no Indians fighting in the American Revolution, just that I don't recall them as being a major factor in any given battle. Just toss in another militia unit.

Definitely. Not only are they useful, they are relatively easy to do. |

:Plenty of reason to paint Indians. Number ONE is that they look so cool, you will take a lot of trouble to find an excuse to use them. That's what I did. I had a bunch of 'em, painted up, a bunch of militia, Butler's Rangers
. So I thought, is the Wyoming Massacre gameable? Naaaah. Sure it is. So, grab some unused OG Continentals and paint them up as Green's Royal Johnsons and I was good to go. I forget how many times I did that game. 4? 5? |

Are Indians worth painting? It depends on how much you are getting paid per figure. But seriously, Indian vs. Colonist skirmish games are great fun, it gives an excuse (like one is needed) to add some variety to the forces

I think so. All along the NY and PA frontier the Indians were active. Check out Galloping Major for the best sculpts and correct gear for the different tribes. |

I suggest at Indians from Conquest. Very nice sculpts! |

I have several units – a couple of different tribes to use in Northern Battles and Campaigns. |

I had plans to do a large number, but have only finished about 20 so far. That has always been sufficient. Maybe I'll finish some more for a Fort William Henry game

Yes – you can often get a few Indians into many of the games. I used some recently for Freeman's Farm. |

Yes, Indians are worth painting. Not only for AWI, but you're pretty much good to go from 1750-1815 for Woodland people. You can have them for FIW, AWI, Mad Anthony Wayne, and the War of 1812, besides the numerous actions in between these periods. |

Tons I could use but they were all originally for French & Indian War |

Bob Murch is doing the Huron/Iroquois War. The figs. look great as usual. |

Yes very much worth having. I have 28mm woodland Indians I had painted for Oriskany and other actions. I have 15mm Plains Indians I painted myself and I must say fun to paint. Especially the horses all in war paint and the different variations of same. |
corporalpat | 24 Jun 2014 9:45 a.m. PST |
Of course Indians are worth painting. Especially if you are doing small unit actions. Plus eastern Indians are usable from the early 1700's to the War of 1812 and beyond! Also, I want to add another recommendation for the Conquest figures if doing 28mm or the Blue Moon 15mm. They are both among the best out there and Conquest really sculpts the details of the native gear correctly. |

Definately paint the indians..even if you never use them they are fun to paint. You can always scatter a few on the table during your games, (no one knows what they are doing there, but they look good and add a bit of ambiance). You def need them for FIW. good luck. |

It depends. If you are planning on staging "European style" battles, Indians in numbers would generally be out of place. This would be true even in the F&IW. However there are a number of actions throughout the era when European style or militia units engaged bodies of Indians in combat. |
