And there was much rejoicing.
YouTube link

Of course, those who have ignored me (all 60 of you! grin) will not get the news from this post.

Now for something REALLY important.
I checked my profile just now and I have 266 stiffles and 60 Ignores.
Whatever.
However, Dear Editor still has the Univac calculating stiffle to posts and ignore to posts ratios.
How can anyone have any faith in them when we still do not know if the post count is correct?

I have been unable to celebrate a meaningless post count milestone in over a year, and my stalkers need something to slur me with, about only caring for my post count.
So, Dear Editor, when will that be fixed? I don't really care if it's accurate or not. All I want is Official Assurance™ that it is "fixed". grin
I don't care if it is as accurate as … climate and temperature statistics gathered since 1759. You need SOME data to make pointless conclusions about, and if you can kid yourself that it is accurate, so much the better.

tberry740323 Jun 2014 9:53 a.m. PST

I've been ignoring it.

John, offhand I think Armand passed you last month and continues to bury your glorious accomplishment daily.

VonTed23 Jun 2014 11:11 a.m. PST

Can you ignore yourself I wonder….

John the OFM23 Jun 2014 11:15 a.m. PST

If you want to get your account locked, you can always try to ignore any of the Editors.
I double dog dare you! evil grin

Hey You23 Jun 2014 11:40 a.m. PST

I, for ever how many, am glad that Ignore 2.0 is out. And for what its worth, no one (above me here) so far is ignored by me. :)

Col Durnford23 Jun 2014 11:43 a.m. PST

Glad it is here, sorry it was needed, not planning on using it.

Coyotepunc and Hatshepsuut23 Jun 2014 12:06 p.m. PST

66 Stifles and 4 Ignores, and I only post a couple times a week usually. So what?

Broglie23 Jun 2014 12:43 p.m. PST

I rarely post and yet I have collected 27 ignores. I suspect that people are ignoring anyone who supported the anti- Tango debate which I did. He is my only ignore and I am delighted now with the clearer front page.

I have not stifled Tango, or anyone else for that matter, just in case – in case – he might contribute to an ongoing thread. As I reckon that that is unlikely it is not really such a big deal.

Excellent I can now use the front page as it is intended without its resident spammer.

Robert Kennedy23 Jun 2014 4:16 p.m. PST

Meh. Still need that "Tempest in a Teapot" button. LOL

Tgunner23 Jun 2014 5:04 p.m. PST

@John-

THE Editor picked up an ignore too. I guess someone just took up your challenge sir.

John the OFM23 Jun 2014 6:08 p.m. PST

I bet that person will lick a flagpole in December too.

Ivan DBA23 Jun 2014 6:39 p.m. PST

I'm posting here only to let John the OFM know that I have not Ignored him.

altfritz24 Jun 2014 5:40 a.m. PST

See, the problem is, I don't want to "Ignore" people.

This situation and solution is the equivalent of dealing with drivers who go the wrong way on a one-way street. In the immediate situation the solution is for people to get out of the way, but the long term solution is to get the offender to stop doing it.

altfritz24 Jun 2014 5:44 a.m. PST

How about a "Listen to Me!" button?

That way people could ensure that those who Ignore them could hear what they have to say. Free Speech and all that! ;-)

altfritz24 Jun 2014 5:49 a.m. PST

Are people who use the ignore button "Ignoramuses" (Ignorami)?

Personal logo Doctor X Supporting Member of TMP24 Jun 2014 7:03 a.m. PST

Nice one!

brass124 Jun 2014 8:31 a.m. PST

Parturient montes, nascetur ridiculus mus.

Horace was really on his game when he came up with that one. Too bad TMP hadn't been invented yet.

Your right to free speech is limited by my lack of interest in what you have to say. grin
In North Korea you can be arrested for not listening to Dear Leader when he comes on TV. (Only one station, and you can't turn it off.) BUT THIS IS TMP!!!!!

John the OFM24 Jun 2014 11:48 a.m. PST

Strangely enough, none of the accounts I have stifled or ignored have posted in weeks. All of the 5 Ignores were that bozo who keeps coming back to call us all senile bed wetters. Has he given up? Is he finally bored with being a doody-head?

Personal logo Herkybird Supporting Member of TMP24 Jun 2014 11:51 a.m. PST

I got an Ignore!

Can't figure why, but its cool!

altfritz24 Jun 2014 11:56 a.m. PST

Somebody tried to give you a "Good Trader" endorsement and hit the wrong button by mistake?

Personal logo 20thmaine Supporting Member of TMP24 Jun 2014 3:25 p.m. PST

I think the people who have ignored me could at least have the decency to unstifle me…but they'll never know that I think that.

Muwahahahahahaha!

grin

Robert Kennedy24 Jun 2014 4:26 p.m. PST

I guess that they dislike you but also your views and what you have to say 20th wink LOL.

altfritz24 Jun 2014 5:26 p.m. PST

So does this mean TMP has an "Unlike" button but not a "Like" button? Sorta makes TMP the "anti-facebook"?

altfritz24 Jun 2014 5:28 p.m. PST

Sadly all the "unlikers" will never see this point as it's buried in an OFM thread and he's already been unliked.

Mako1124 Jun 2014 5:41 p.m. PST

How does this differ from the dreaded "Schteiffel"?

On the plus side, perhaps I should be thrilled, since I already have 15 of them, despite not posting anything in about a week, or so.

Robert Kennedy24 Jun 2014 5:58 p.m. PST

Maybe some people are making up for lost time Mako wink LOL.

Tgunner24 Jun 2014 6:02 p.m. PST

It's preemptive Mako. They're not worried about what you've said. They're scared of what you'll say next!

Personal logo 20thmaine Supporting Member of TMP25 Jun 2014 2:30 a.m. PST

I guess that they dislike you but also your views and what you have to say 20th

At least they've stopped chasing me through the streets, throwing rocks and threatening to burn down the Castle of Baron 20thmaine

How does this differ from the dreaded "Schteiffel"?

The S-word only blocks the messages in a thread (so the S-er sees the poster's name and a grey box where the post would be.

The I-word blocks all trace of the person to be I-ed : so I guess that's just no trace that they posted in a thread, and most importantly if they start a thread the I-er never knows as it wont sho on their front page or message board list of threads.

Not sure what happens if one posts a link to an ignored poster's thread.

Brownbear25 Jun 2014 2:58 a.m. PST

The ignore doesn't function in the message boards but only on the front page?

Personal logo 20thmaine Supporting Member of TMP25 Jun 2014 3:21 a.m. PST

You're right ! So it's not the superdooperwoopy stifle after all.

Maybe that'll be V3!

Now it only deserves :

picture

No bunting for you front page only Ignore !

wink

Khusrau25 Jun 2014 3:59 a.m. PST

Love it. I actually find stuff I want to look at on the front page… :-)

passiveaggressive25 Jun 2014 7:02 a.m. PST

I can ignore tango and ofm? Oh thank the man in the sky for that.

Personal logo 20thmaine Supporting Member of TMP25 Jun 2014 8:31 a.m. PST

And yet…here you are on a thread started by the OFM….

Sergeant Paper25 Jun 2014 12:17 p.m. PST

I have conducted a Stifle Amnesty in honor of the new Ignore option. I do feel kind of vindicated – going through the list more than a third of the posters I had stifled had been kicked off TMP at some point after I stopped reading their screeds.

But it is a new day, my frands, I am CHANGED, with new purpose I am hangin' up my Stifle gun, and setting the red guard over the Ignore button, to be used only for the most egregious of all.

Rogzombie Fezian26 Jun 2014 5:48 p.m. PST

I hate to say it, but I am going to ignore a certain member today. Its a shame because I really like some of this persons posts. Unfortunately the ungodly amount of useless spamming done today is intolerable. My friend, you find no one watching you, it is only you to blame.

MarescialloDiCampo27 Jun 2014 9:28 a.m. PST

No ignores, no stifles of anyone…Interesting public survey on human behavior

CPBelt27 Jun 2014 12:41 p.m. PST

Interesting public survey on human behavior

How so?

HistoryPhD30 Jun 2014 6:28 p.m. PST

I think all this ignore stuff doesn't work very well. The one I've ignored, I still see his multiple posts on a daily basis, though the stifle keeps his content hidden. Is it a case of ignore OR stifle, but not both?

Sergeant Paper30 Jun 2014 7:47 p.m. PST

Ignore keeps them off the front page only, stifle blots out their posts.

HistoryPhD30 Jun 2014 8:03 p.m. PST

I wish it kept them off the subject pages too

Skeptic05 Jul 2014 3:52 p.m. PST

Sadly, ignores would seem to have become the new stifle…
