IIRC the film opens with GIs getting shot dead through the water. This is highly inaccurate and the rest of the film is a load of cobbler's too. |

That is cool, using one of the only or the only functioning Tiger 1 in the movie. In Kelly's Heroes and BoB, they were modified T-34s, etc. to make them look like Tigers
Which in itself, is much better than painting an M47 or M48 gray and putting Iron Crosses on it ! |

It is the only running one in the world; it was captured in North Africa when a shot jammed the turret. The crew bailed out but either did not set the demolition charges or they malfunctioned. Jurgen |

So it's Bovington's Tiger No 131 that's in the film? |

Nice to to see it being put to good use. There aren't too many films with actual running Tigers in them, in fact the only one I can think of 'They were not Divided' in the Operation Goodwood scenes. Running Panthers in 'Theirs was the glory' of course, but just one burning Tiger II left over after from the battle, plus a running Jadpanther in 'It happened here'. |

When I worked in an S-3 shop we used to run into people using termoinology wrong a lot. A fovorite of mine is MSR. it can mean medium surface road, but also mean main supply route. In the situation maps and overlays we produced it meant main supply route. One Major we had as the S3 never seemed to get the hang of that. jhe always briefed it as the "Main MSR". After a while some of us started talking about the main main. I dont think he ever realized what we where talking about. Owen |

On the medic always gets it. At Madigan Army Medical center one fine day i ran inot a young soldier I had known for some time. She was there with her grandmother who had brought her in for therapy. She would not tell me what was wrong but granny spilled the beans. She had been out to a local gravel pit with her three broythers shooting. They decided to try some quick draw shooting with a .45 long colt. whne it was rebeccas turn, she drew and shot a litttle to fast, shooting herself in the thigh. At that she was luck. granny said it just threaded its way between an artery and her knee joint. HAd it been just slightly different oit would have destroyed the joint, or she would have bled to death. As they where a good 40 miles from the nearest medical facility there was no way to get her there in toime. All four of them hwere in the Army. the three brother, all Infantrymen., so they had some basic 1st aid. And rebecca? she is the family medic. So yes, the medic gets it first. |

The one thing which really cracked me up in SPR was Ted Danson, the elderly paratrooper. LOL!! Yeah that one got me too! |
