For my continuing SF skirmish campaign, I am constantly on the lookout for unusual 28mm alien (as in non-human) races. I am not looking for the gothic-scifi-GW-look, but more the Star Trek/Star Wars space opera look (yes, I am aware that calling ST space opera is sacrilege to some).

So, what are the coolest 25-28mm non-mainstream miniatures available? I am not interested in entire armies, but I am looking to build small forces 5-20 figures, with a variety of poses.

Star Trek is not Space Opera. Star Wars is Space Opera. Star Trek is Space Western.

Really, I have nothing useful to add, just like the sight of my own typing some mornings. Move along, nothing to see here.

I have the Zombiesmith, CP, and some Hydra aliens. All quality stuff.

I'm not a Trek expert, but I think it's fair to say that Trek is a lot of things depending on which series you are looking at. Original series may have been a Space Western, but DS9, hardly qualifies.

As for figs, I'd give Reaper a look. They have a number of interesting alien characters in their "Chronoscope line.

We have various pulpy Space Opera aliens at Killer B Games which may suit your needs:

Black Cat Bases has a large number of "alien" that might suit your needs…

Also their "smoggers" might be of use. They remind me of Jawas…

If Khurasan's website is back online soon, you could try their Garn. They're 28mm reptilians that are not unlike the Gorn of ST (with better costuming).
However, I'd say your best bet is the Random Aliens Passing Through sold through ZombieSmith.

They look smashing, in the photos at least.

The AE: Bounty line was pretty good… not sure who produces (?) them now….

Classic insectoid aliens still available after all these years:

The Dreenoi are 1/72 scale as in true 25mm, so they're a hair over 1 inch tall not counting their antennae. You can look 'me up here:

Oh, and the Dreenoi even have their own pulpy fictiony walking tank, the "Cockroach:"

Hope this helps!evil grin

Don't forget that Black Tree Design have a whole host of Dr Who aliens available.

Second (third? fourth?) recommendation for the Zombiesmith A7D12 line of figures, many of which are sculpted by PF (same fellow that sculpted the alien shocktroopers in post #2).

Also mentioned, but not yet linked, are the AE: Bounty miniatures (many of which are also sculpted by PF), currently sold by Blackball Games:

Some of the Infinity Combine Army minis would probably work.

Space Vixens from Mars has about the most comprehensive line of "not-Star Trek" aliens in 28mm that I'm aware of, as well as some other pulpy aliens:

Bombshell minis has some pretty good pulpy/space opera minis in their Counterblast range:

I'm sure there are more, that's what springs to mind at the moment, though

Thanks for all the links … I discovered some ranges I wasn't aware of yet!
