Any ideas on how to model these in 6mm or 1/285? They are early versions with 90mm main guns, external fuel tanks and commander's cupolas and pintle mounted .50 cals instead of the MG turret. Both GHQ and CinC make the basic models but neither has correct cupolas. I can add the fuel tanks pretty easily. Looking at CinC's website it looks like I could kit bash the cupola from their M113s. Can anybody confirm that? Any other ideas? |

Sort of tough. If they have CC and pintle mounted M2s they would be M48A0 (aka plain M48s). These & the M48A1 had completely different engine decks compared to the -A2 or better known -A3. Cursory exam of both websites didn't show anything appropriate. Closest you could do is kitbash the rear hull (right behind the turret ring) of an M47 with the front hull of an M48 to get something close. Here is the engine deck of an M48A1, which would be fairly similar:
Here is a pic of the cupola (albeit a model bit), which is vaguely similar to an M113 cupola. In microarmor might do the trick:

Thanks Damon. I think this will go into the too hard to handle box. I may just use stock GHQ M48A3s, although I may try to replace the cupolas and add fuel drums which shouldn't be that difficult. |
