Has anyone ordered any of the dinosaurs from Shapeways?
My biggest question is which material best mimics the vinyl plastic of toy dinos? (Or is there a superior material, especially one that will take paint?)
How durable are they? Good for play or best for the shelf?

I have ordered two, but chose the cheap option. The models are acceptable for wargaming, but if you want a better finish you might want to use the material suggested by Dave Krentz. It might be black ultra-fine detail or similar. I don't recall at the moment.

About what size/scale are these dinos?

evilcartoonist17 Jun 2014 7:45 a.m. PST

They come in different scales, but I prefer the 1:40 scale option (which matches most other dino toys on the market.)

I've also seen a few 1/72 scale dinos.

The various designers make them in 1/40th, 1/48th, 1/35th, 1/72nd, 1/100th, 1/12th, and 1/144th. Some make the same model in three scales, others 1 offs. It varies quite alot
