Are these available in 28mm does anyone know?

And how different was the fur cap to a drummer's bearskin? (There is a drummer's bearskin on the Perry plastic command sprue – might a touch of work on that suffice? – I am merely going for the right look and minor details aren't going to be a big issue for me!)

Many thanks in advance!

I have hopes for the Perry plastics and maybe King's Mountain can do some fusilier caps.
I originally shaved the wings off some Hinchliffe grenadiers, but they look like an unskilled laborer tried to shave wings off a lead figure. grin
There are details on grenadier uniforms that do not appear on a regular "hatman".

The only thing I know about the hat is that it was not as tall as a grenadier's hat, and probably did not have the cords. Unless it did.
If I could get a bunch of grenadier hats and just file them down, there is an option too. How many drummer's caps are in the box?

I want them to oppress the peace loving villagers in Lexington and Concord, but SuperMax keeps telling me that this was not supposed to be a REAL BATTLE, but a work detail, and they would not have worn their Sunday Best. I reject that! grin Because I want to, and not because I can refute it.

I know it may not be historically accurate, but what about the new Wargames Factory box set, they have enough Grenadier heads in it for all the models. Maybe serve your purpose…..

Since the WF figures are in the 1768 Warrant uniform, and there is really no justification for having fusiliers wearing bearskin past 1775 in Boston, that might be more accurate than you may think.

John the OFM. We do not know if the troops on April 19 wore there special head gear or not. The battalion companies of the 23rd marched with Lord Percy so they had plenty of time to parade before they marched out of Boston. There was a return for lost and broken equipment of all troops that day in either the Gage papers or PRO office I forget which I have been retired from the NPS for 10 years now.mostly what is listed are cartridge box, belts, bayonets, swords, and match cases. There are not light infantry or grenadier/fusiliers caps listed. That is why, along with none shown n the Doolittle plates many folks say none were worn. There is a watercolor by Richard Williams of the 23rd that showers a fusilier on guard duty wearing his fusilier cap. Regimental records of the regiment show caps were not
ordered after 1778 so up to that time it would be correct to wear them.

BTW when I brought this up with Don Haggis years ago he felt what was listed could be reimbursed by war office while caps were regimental property. As to the caps all we know they were just light grenadier caps but not as tall. So drummer caps would work work fine. My first wargame unit of the 23rd were grenadier with wings filled off. Now, since I am doing the 1780-81 campaign I have them in round hats (ie pump hats).

As an alternative to kit bashing I used my Fife & Drum Grenadiers and made them the 23rd. Somewhat because I already have Perry's Grenadiers and planned WGF Grenadiers. Fife & Drum are smaller proportioned than Perry's. The bearskins are, you guessed it, smaller looking next to the Perry's. I filed off the shoulder lace and grenade on the cartridge box. I think they look pretty good. I really like the detail on Fife & Drum miniatures.
