These crustaceans from Wargames Emporium look like they'd be suitable for a variety of games: I can see them as classic D&D aquatic monsters; a venusian marine race in VSF; antediluvian monsters in some A Merritt or Leigh Brackett-style pulp adventure; while King Kendro would surely be good for giant monster gaming.

I was thinking of using the Caridea as a sci-fi slave race rising up against their Floating Brain Masters (CP Models' Cerebralites).

And all of them would probably go nicely with a caesar salad and a glass of white wine.

Is it me or does the Scythe Beast look a little like . . . Zoidberg?

But nice sculpts :)

…And, to avoid any confusion, here are the floating brain monsters from CP Models, that I mentioned in the previous post:

Maybe they fit well in my mind with the crustaceans as they also resemble sealife…but not seafood.

Spot on, Walrus – the scythe beast does indeed bear a distinct resemblance to the estimable Dr Z!

So in fact Zoidberg-thulu is the secret link in my mental chain between the crustaceans and the tentacled brain monsters?

That was my first thought too.

Is it time for the frenzy, already?

They look like they could happily be living on some 1950's South Pacific island with a US Navy nuclear test observation teams.

TwinMirror16 Jun 2014 5:35 a.m. PST

Yep, they'd be great for some south pacific pulp/sci -fi.

I can't get the zoidberg/scythe-beast connection out of my head now. I'd have to paint them pink…and then the frenzy begins!

Look who's wearing the trousers now!

…Another crabman, of course! This one's from Ramshackle Games: shop.ramshacklegames.co.uk
