Interesting, but I don't think they've really "got" it – too much emphasis on garish colours, and missing the shape element. |

I always thought they were mostly monochromes, and that the geometrical shapes were far less regular than vertical stripes?

It's more of "On a theme of dazzle" |

Exactly – I wish they'd done it properly as it were; false bows and suchlike, not just looking like it's been gift wrapped

An opportunity missed I'm afraid Dom. Mind you the picture from daubere is awesome! |

Yep – style and subject matter really work together on that one. :-) |

It is by Edward Wadsworth, who served in the RNVR and was actually involved with the development of dazzle camouflage during the Great War. The picture, which I thought was appropriate considering the OP, is called 'Dazzle Ships in Drydock at Liverpool', and was painted in 1919. He is mentioned in this book link The painting is currently in the NGC in Ottowa, other examples of his work are in the Tate London

Nice, thanks – I shall have to remember to take a look next time I'm in that London. |

Any idea where I can purchase a print? |
daubere | 13 Jun 2014 5:22 a.m. PST |
I'm afraid I don't. Sorry :( |

Could try this; heaven knows what the pricing's like, but no harm in asking

There were literally hundreds of different dazzle schemes tried from WWI through WWII, by almost all navies, featuring both monochrome and brilliant colors, and stripes and geometric shapes of many styles and sizes. Here are some colorful ones:
I've never seen the exact scheme shown in the OP's link, but that doesn't mean it wasn't tried at some point. |

Can't say I've seen much in the way of reds and greens before. Personally I think its a sad waste of paint, if you're going to do it at least get it right. They must have loads of info on "dazzle" camo in the Liverpool Maritime Museum. Sad to say thats the way the museum has gone too. Too much show, glitz and popular correctness. |

I think the key phrase from the article is "contemporary art"" However considering the artist's portfolio it is pretty disappointing link |

For my VBC W army, I have a couple of navy trucks, one with a gun, painted in dazzle. Land ships.
Made and painted by "Mick A" |

As shedman said, the words "contemporary art" are key. A rough translation is "bollox"

Nice trucks – I do like those. :-) |
