The proof copies of the new edition arrived on Saturday so I was able to hand Lou Zocchi his copy at Origins this morning. He loves it. So now we wait to see what he wants to do. Thanks to all of you who have already stopped by his booth at the con to see it

Fingers crossed. Be nice to see that game make a triumphant return with a modern incarnation.

That would be nice. My copy of the original edition got a bit waterlogged when someone left a sink running upstairs :-(

Are there any differences from the 1977 version, or just a better more easily read format?

The rule changes are to : Romulan, sorry R-type, warbird's plasma bolt and cloaking device, Tholian webs, tractor beams, transporters – all things that needed tweaking and clarification. The starship logs have seen major improvement, and there are new compass cards for the federation tug's different configurations.

A big thanks to Thomas Tullis of Fat Dragon Games for explaining the benefits of DriveThruRPG.

Best news of all; just wish someone would tell Thomas of the benefits of re-releasing the deck plans promised to me SO long ago…

Doug

Edit: Just hope he explained the 'benefits' of not pricing too high. There are certain price points that will kill a project; small drop in asking can make big difference in volume.

Why do you think almost everything on TV ads are $9.99 USD or $19.99 USD?

Lou was thinking around $10 USD-12. Which is what the old edition goes for.

There are several rulesets that are intriguing, but, at about $15 USD, unlikely to get my dineros until I play a real demo. I've folders full of c**p at $1 USD-3, and plenty up to $5. USD

Volume IS powerful if you find the right price points.

I'd guess he'd make out in the long run far better at $4.99 USD, but other, wiser councils are indicated.

Whatever, thanks for making this possible!

The Star Fleet Battle Manual got me into gaming at the age of 12 when it first came out, so I have to get a copy when/if/hope it comes out.
