Add a white Cross and it's a Russian navy jack:

Or remove the red field, and you're left with the Russian naval ensign. "St. Andrew's Fleet"…

It looks like they took a traditional St Andrew's Cross and superimposed it over a red flag, both traditional flags in Russia, albeit from different periods of Russian history. The fact that at these two writers, who were probably paid for these articles, assume it is any way related to the Confederate battle flag is saddening. A simple Google search of Russian flags will bring up plenty of examples of St. Andrew's Crosses. Of course they are both written in the smug hipster doofus style of writing that passes for journalism on the internet so I shouldn't be surprised.

Some of those Americans are sympathetic to Vladimir Putin and praise his conservative manliness.

LOL. Puh-leeeeze.

Those are the ones who think Rusev's stale "Russian Heel" act on WWE is real. Or they just like his "manager" Lana's legs. Well, I AM impressed by her legs….

I would love to see a wrestling match of Shrub in his flight suit and shirtless Putin.

Well then.

I actually recall seeing flags very, very similar to that one used by the Russian armed forces. I think it was the navy, but I don't remember specifically. IIRC, it had a white cruciform behind what we see here, but close enough.

If they want to fly the Naval Jack, though, I fully support 'em. I mean, I've got one on my truck, so…
