I found something at Walmart that I think would be useful as the basis for cheap and easy 15mm sci-fi buildings

Nice find the $0.88 USD pixie box looks like it could be very useful and a good basis of a multitude of Sci-fi structures…

Great Idea!

Ooooooh!

Also, Walmart carries some bigger(deeper) Super Stacker boxes that could probably be used to make some 28mm scale sci-fi buildings(if you're into that scale) wink

Do you need to clip off the clamps on the sides?

I might have to drop by there.

I need some storage bins anyway.

Query – Are those wall ribs internal or external?

corporalpat09 Jun 2014 7:47 p.m. PST

They are also good for storing game bits in like dice, casualty markers etc.

(Major Disaster)09 Jun 2014 9:51 p.m. PST

@Cacique Caribe
Dan, the clamps can be popped off easily and re-attached later.

@Covert Walrus
The ribs are external.

Also,some info for everyone, if you go looking for them in your local Walmart, they're in crafts section, on the office supplies aisle wink

And I imagine that these are available in most Walmarts around the U.S. I found these in 3 different Walmarts in 3 different cities across Texas. Being a former associate, knowing a little about Walmart's merchandise distribution, these items would now be a standard product to be stocked widely throughout the chain.

Sweet! Having those ribs on the outside will greatly add to the sci-fi flavor!

(Insert "ribbed for your pleasure" joke of your choice here…)

I have a bunch of these from different manufacturers. They look even better and more sci fi when you remove the lids and turn them over. That pattern on the bottom makes a great roof.I have some with the diamond pattern and a hex pattern.

Nice work.

The corner 'structure' (the butressing and what not) serves them really well and you've done a nice job making them very dirty.

Thanks John. I plan on using these for parts of a ramshackle colony on an arid planet battle board, so I tried to make them fairly dirty.

I managed to finish the second building -
