Last night in the Wargamorium the German army made a second attempt to penetrate the intervals between forts Evegnée and Fléron south east of Liège. This time they had realised that the fort's big guns had a minimum range and so they set up inside that but the fort's smaller 5.7" guns did their job well and no attempt was made to storm the fort itself.

Just marvelous Robert! I'm so jealous of your massive WWI armies!

Thanks Din.

I actually have nearly 2,500 WWI 1914 figures – all Peter Pig.

Wow! You've done the impossible and made WWI gaming seem interesting.

Thanks Rich Bliss for those kind words.

I tend to stick to 1914 as most of the action was in open country and the trenches did not come until the end of the year.

If you check the blog you will see that I have other game reports for 1914

More than welcome. I am working on a Great War Spearhead scenario for large.

Sorry lost my connections and it appears to have sent the note at 0940.

I am working on a Great War Spearhead scenario for the entire battle, still working on using either 6 or all 12 forts. The idea would be to fight through the first couple of days until the Super heavies arrive at which point the fall of the forts becomes academic, even if gallant.

Sounds great Shawn especially 6 or even 12 forts!

Maybe you could post a report with pictures afterwards?

I certainly will – I am looking to do it with either 10 or 15mm minis. I have half a Belgian division from PP already painted but I really like the 10mm Pendraken stuff as well. Look to get the forts though as that will show me which scale is best. In Great War Spearhead one of the Forts will be about 3 or 4 inches by 3 or 4 inches – depending on large or small fort.

Great.

I will look forward to that

Yes, I agree, the fort and your AAR look great.

Interesting to hear about the GWSHII scenario, Shawn. I've been wavering on working on Belgian or French forces next – the thought of having all those forts on the table may tip the balance!

Cheers
Alan
