Very very beautiful.

They are so nice that I wouldn't want to open fire on them, even with fake plastic cannons.

Bandolier09 Jun 2014 3:45 p.m. PST

Thank you again for the comments.

@Sparker – Yeah, why not? These are intended for 1809 so a good fit.

@Paul(AuvergneWargamer)- That's a lot of Bavarians! Hope to see your pics when done.

@Korsun0 – well spotted..!

I was a bit so-so about Front Rank until I appreciated their more recent releases up close.

Mike Petro10 Jun 2014 9:20 a.m. PST

Wow!

trailape25 Jun 2014 2:56 a.m. PST

Mateus25 Jun 2014 5:23 a.m. PST

You painted all these napoleonics in 6-7 months??

This is probably the most beautiful napoleonics I've seen to this day. Bravo!

Ben Waterhouse25 Jun 2014 5:46 a.m. PST

A lovely army, well done!

Marc the plastics fan25 Jun 2014 7:39 a.m. PST

Nice to see – ever since I read "Swords around a throne" I have wanted to do these – very manageable army compared to doing the French grin

138SquadronRAF25 Jun 2014 9:07 a.m. PST

Nicely done sir!

ModelJShip25 Jun 2014 12:07 p.m. PST

Absolutely outstanding! I have recently returned to painting miniatures after a long absence and if I achieve what you have I would be thrilled (but then again I might be having illusions of painting adequacy, the eyes aren't quite what they once were…) I Could I trouble you to ask what bases you use?

MathewatWarTimeMiniatures13 Sep 2014 2:25 a.m. PST

Stunning! :)

HarryB196113 Sep 2014 3:03 a.m. PST

OMG !! You say you've worked on these for 6-7 months, i couldn't paint that many figures to that standard in 6-7 decades !! Truly outstanding.

ScottS13 Sep 2014 9:09 a.m. PST

Those are gorgeous, beautiful work!

archiduque14 Sep 2014 7:00 a.m. PST

Stunning work!!!

Bandolier14 Sep 2014 5:09 p.m. PST

Thanks!
@Take me back to Elba – the bases are from Shogun Miniatures. I use them for all my figures these days.

Edwulf14 Sep 2014 6:27 p.m. PST

Very inspiring

Provost14 Sep 2014 9:12 p.m. PST

Magnificent as always Mick!

I look forward to seeing them on the table some day.

Lets party with Cossacks Supporting Member of TMP15 Sep 2014 2:52 a.m. PST

Great thanks for that Bandolier; I just checked them out.

Just out of interest what paints did you use? Did you varnish? Prime? Keen for any advice provided you are not giving away closely guarded secrets!

DHautpol15 Sep 2014 5:29 a.m. PST

Really magnificent work.

I noted your comment about the yellow fittings on the guns: I've wondered about that. When people write 'black metal fittings' it is clear they mean metal fittings painted black. However, when people write about the fittings being yellow they tend to be bit vague about whether they mean painted yellow or the metal is yellow (i.e. brass). Never really got that one clear.

Skull and Crown15 Sep 2014 4:57 p.m. PST

I feel a bit late to the ball, but man- those are inspiring!
Have they seen action yet?
Cheers, thanks for sharing!

Bandolier15 Sep 2014 6:05 p.m. PST

They've seen a couple of games so far. They were to have a run a week or two ago but the game was cancelled.

@Take me back to Elba – No secrets mate, happy to share with whoever asks. Paints are Foundry, Vallejo, Citadel and a couple of craft paints. I primed in grey or black depending on the unit. Leave me your email address if you would like more detail.

@DHautpol – Yes, that was something that I was never clear on either. Some interpretations were literally yellow painted metal (looks terrible) and others suggested brass. I went with what I thought looked the best.

Marcus Maximus16 Sep 2014 4:28 a.m. PST

Mick – superb army, beautifully done in a simple tastful style – stunning, inspiring!

Lets party with Cossacks Supporting Member of TMP17 Sep 2014 4:02 a.m. PST

Have had a closer look at your bases and terrain. I don't want to take away anything from the exquisite painting but the basing is just out of this world! Looking at other top quality painting examples you are on a par but many of them just don't do terrain like you do! Cheers JJ

Beautiful ,colourful and inspiring.

I think you should apply to Front Rank for some commission, as its a great advert for them. My decision to go with Front Rank also appears to be vindicated.

paxx8808 Dec 2014 12:00 p.m. PST

Superbly done. great colours and pictures.Congats!!!!

Bandolier09 Dec 2014 3:48 p.m. PST

Thanks for the comments.
Nice to see the thread still getting interest!

Kevin in Albuquerque09 Dec 2014 7:22 p.m. PST

I went and looked at my 15mm Wurt's. I have almost the exact same mix. Less flags though. You are incredible.

Painter Jim10 Dec 2014 10:24 a.m. PST

incredible work.

wargame insomniac17 Dec 2014 1:07 p.m. PST

I am grateful that others have posted recently on this thread as otherwise I would have missed the thread.

This army is simply beautiful.

bkim417523 Dec 2014 11:58 a.m. PST

Excellent work on these. I have them in 15mm. I really like their cavalry, with the Jagers zu Pferd and Cheveauleger Regt, each with different uniforms from their counterpart. One note though, the 5th Regt was not Hussars, it was the Kronprinz Dragoons.

I agree with wargame insomniac. Occasionally something is worth 86 postings. These are….and you are back to the top yet again, so someone else might notice them!

Images like this I often save, for tips in painting small details. Many ideas gained from your work

Bandolier23 Dec 2014 1:45 p.m. PST

Thank you for you the bump! Good call bkim4175, you've spotted my deliberate mistake…they are indeed dragoons.

fraserk02 Jan 2015 4:36 p.m. PST

hahaha Berg is the word!

janner05 Jan 2015 2:38 p.m. PST

Cracking little army :-)

Hazkal09 Jan 2015 6:24 a.m. PST

I've missed this each time it's been bumped until now. That is an awe-inspiring army; it has quality and quantity. I don't think there's a table where that wouldn't be welcome.

Marcus Maximus10 Jan 2015 11:47 a.m. PST

Bumping this because it's just inspiring :)

Brian Smaller12 Jan 2015 3:52 p.m. PST

What an effort. Just awe inspiring.

vichussar27 Feb 2015 4:22 a.m. PST

Very well done. What figs did you use for your Generals etc

I started my Wurttemberg army 33 years ago using mostly Minifigs. I can now field Vandames 8th Corps 1809. Still filling out the Guard Infantry and Dragoons (No hussars in army)

Bandolier27 Feb 2015 7:06 p.m. PST

Thanks vichussar. I used the Fronk Rank mtd generals. From memory they have a cavalry general, infantry general and aide de camp. Definitely on the other end of the scale of Minifigs!
I asked FR if they were making guard troops and they said no. I would have loved some guard cavalry to go with these.

Lord Elpass09 Mar 2015 5:57 a.m. PST

Rather splendid!

1968billsfan11 Jul 2016 3:32 a.m. PST

Ah, now lets get to the important thing. How do the die roll when these lads get on the table???

trailape11 Jul 2016 5:06 a.m. PST

I've just purchased these miniature myself.
I'll use you work as inspiration.

Lord Hill11 Jul 2016 8:20 a.m. PST

Magnificent!

Bandolier11 Jul 2016 7:29 p.m. PST

Funny to think this is two years old already. Nice to know people still take the time to comment.

@1968billsfan – Very average performers on the table but they've had a few good moments.

I expect you'll enjoy painting your new figures, trailape.
