Who will be watching "The Longest Day" on 6th June? (which has already arrived in my time). I try to watch it every year.

Happy D-Day to you all.

"It wounds my heart with a monotonous languor". I watch it annually as well.

The poodle is lounging on the settee'. I'll be watching it also.

Texas Jack05 Jun 2014 11:58 a.m. PST

Yep, me too. I´ve already given my wife the annual warning.

"Doc, what are you doing over there? That's the German side!"
"Sir, anyone can make a mistake."

Would do, but I am watching 'Game of Thrones' season 3 on DVD. Enjoy it guys! – especially that long, long continuous shot with the French commandoes running to attack the casino.

"The roast has been washed down with Ale"
It will be broadcast at home at some point . Still feel the need to use the ( kids need to know ) excuse to cover the riveting watch.

When I was a kid (late 50s, early 60s) the movie theaters would show that movie every June 6, it was a big deal.

I always suspected that about John.

Dynaman878905 Jun 2014 1:16 p.m. PST

Got it on Blu-Ray, plan on watching it.

…the kids need to know…

While reading this thread I mentioned to my 24 year old daughter that tomorrow was an important day – the 70th anniversary of D-day.

After explaining to her what D-day was her reply: "Like I care."

I weep for the future.

dBerczerk05 Jun 2014 2:04 p.m. PST

That is sad.

Many youngsters today are more familiar with "Z-Day" than they are with "D-Day."

Gummy Puppen!

I mentioned it to my 14 year old daughter and then had to explain what it was and its significance. She thought about it and then said "we're doing the Weimar republic at the moment so it'll probably be next week". Well at least they are learning some history. And yes, I'll be watching it although we've had a week of documentaries about.

Never miss watching it whenever its on. It was on Memorial Day.
Just had to look what's on YouTube. The soundtrack with lots of movie stills, most in color.

This evening, my 28 year old daughter was showing her 5 year old, my grandson, a bunch of photographs online from D-Day and explaining where, why, when. He's fascinated by history and we stoke that little fire as much as possible. He already knows more about The Alamo (Grandpa's favorite subject) and the ACW than most current college kids. Like many, I grew up at the knee of WW2 and Korean War veterans. I made sure my kids knew about and appreciated the sacrifices made by the previous generations on our behalf. Jonah will, too.

I will be watching it on one of the two remaining LST's tomorrow night. The LST 393 in Muskegon, MI has a battle star from Normandy and will be showing the full film in the tank deck.

I found a colorized version of this online so I'll watch it tomorrow. Supposedly there are a couple scenes that were shot differently than the B&W version.

I will catch it at some point this week. We are doing a Longest Day series of Bolt Action scenarios on the 14th

fox news tea party05 Jun 2014 8:53 p.m. PST

I'll be watching it tomorrow as well.

Also, I'll break out the excellent Canadian production called Juno Beach.

boy wundyr x06 Jun 2014 7:32 a.m. PST

Is that the "Storming Juno" movie Scooby, or is there another one?

Young Philip and I just watched it. He loved it :)

dBerczerk07 Jun 2014 4:35 a.m. PST

I didn't see a single D-Day movie on television on 6 June 2014.

I thought some station would at least broadcast "Saving Private Ryan" or "The Longest Day" last night, but no.

14Bore07 Jun 2014 7:08 p.m. PST

I was too looking for a movie but nothing on real time or on demand.
