On Sunday I called along to the Yorks and Lancs Open day at Clifton Park, in Rotherham. There was one wargame on show, but there may be some other bits and pieces of interest for people here, on my blog:

Thanks for looking!

Bleeped text! – Missed that. Must read the Advertiser a bit more!

Heh, I never thought I'd see the Rotherham Advertiser mentioned on TMP…

Especially miffed because my grandad was in the 1st Battalion in France.

I recall going when it was in the town museum, but must check out the new displays.

BomballeySAM, my company has recently finished a survey of the Barnsley Pals (13/14th Y&L) training area in Silkstone, you may be interested in the blog on it:

Davidp42, it used to be housed in a dingy corner of the library, the new exhibition is much bigger and airier, well worth visiting!

If you have time, pop into Sheffield and go to the chapel of remembrance for them, Colours are also displayed there.

I've not been Freddbloggs, but now I know about it, I will certainly call in at some point.

BombAlleySAM05 Jun 2014 1:54 a.m. PST

Neither habe I been, but I will make the effort next time I'm in the city.

The outside and in have just been refurbished etc. One of the most interesting things is the White Ensign for HMS Sheffield is there as well, and it is huge!

You mean the one from the war we fought to recover the FALKLAND ISLANDS from a bunch of FASCIST INVADERS who wanted to ILLEGALLY occupy the homes of peace-loving people of BRITISH descent?

FreddBloggs05 Jun 2014 7:25 a.m. PST

Not sure, as there have been 3 HMS Sheffields.

And kindly not turn this discussion into your personal rant. You wish to discuss the Falklands, fine but don't shanghai another thread with only a tangential relationship to it to do so please.

BombAlleySAM05 Jun 2014 7:28 a.m. PST

It might be the WW2 cruisers ensign because I think they had a model of the ship in the old library museum.

Supercilius Maximus05 Jun 2014 7:48 a.m. PST

It was less a personal rant and more a comment on the removal of the Falklands thread from the British Wargaming board in rather dubious circumstances. I see there is a separate thread on this, so point taken, Fredd.
