So I got a box set of these fine Prussians in a bargain deal, but didn't really want to paint them up as Prussians. I was thinking of an alternate use for a unit for one of the Confederation of the Rhine regiments in the Spanish theater.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Russian militia 1812-1814 or the battalions of the Hanseatic League in Germany in 1813 is all I can think of… far from Spain I know…

Hmmm, I think the U.S. military would have similar uniforms later on but the jackets may have been shorter. I suppose they could be seen as overcoats of some type? I think Glengarry has the best options though….

Gents,
Thanks. Now I'm pretty innovative to do some modifications like head swaps and some uniform adjustments using stuff like the "green stuff". I have a few other plastic box sets and figure I can utilize some of those parts too…thoughts?

Afraid I have none, the Con of the Rhine troops were pretty much dressed in French inspired uniforms.

Ok, will save for a trade somewhere down the road.

Thanks again.

When considering conversion work, it's best to decide what unit you want to build FIRST, and THEN figure out which figures are best suited to the task.

You say you bought the figs on a bargain, but if you can't use them, what kind of bargain have you really made?

redmist112211 Jun 2014 11:00 p.m. PST

Sir,
Only time will tell on the bargain. The box set was part of a multiple box set sale; divide the cost amongst the sets, it was a bargain. I've held on to "stuff" for several years and sold/traded them worth more than what the original cost was. I always have a use for "stuff". The gaming group here may move from the Peninsular campaign to main part Europe where the figures could be used. Still new to the Peninsular era, there is always a chance I can make conversions to meet certain units present.

So bottom line, you have no advice/suggestions as mentioned in my first post in this thread?

Shave off the cap peaks and paint as naval landing party in pea jackets, e.g. for the Crimea?

Wow! Very cool, haven't thought of that.

Thanks again.
