If you were hoping to inspire the troops, which woman would you prefer to be your queen?

Letizia of Spain (just crowned Queen)

Kate of United Kingdom (to be crowned some time in the future, presumably)

Letizia!

I think I'd go with Kate. She looks just like a nurse I used to work with and she was the best nurse in my entire area. Or at least the best one I worked with and I worked with a lot of them.

Just to be fair, here's a more fetching photo of Kate somewhat more equivalent to Letizia

The second picture makes Kate look possessed.

I am preferential to Letizia.

There can be only one… Queen.

Letizia if I must choose, but if not, either is ok with me.

Hey, talking about the next but one queen of England as which queen you would sooner have sounds a little bit traitorous … the current monarch (Elisabeth or betty to people who are about to be a head shorter) is the queen.

Then we have king Arthur (Prince Charles is called Charles, Arthur George, and we all know what happened to the last two proper Charlie's) and I suppose his wife the …….. (insert suitable strangled descriptive) Camilla, who might just get to be queen

Then we have Kate's Husband.

(I'm not going to say anything about either woman being an inspiration to make me want to fight or die for my country)

¡Viva España!

Is it just me, or does the new Spanish Queen look a bit like Queen Cersei from GoT? Not that that is a bad thing. In fact, it is a good thing. In looks anyway, if not behaviour.

PS. I care more about GoT than any royal family. And I don't care all that much about GoT.

I don't think she has been crowned Queen yet, has she? King Juan Carlos has only just abdicated and the Spanish government has a load of legal stuff to do before anyone replaces him.

The above two both look good but do either of them know how to strip and rebuild the engine of a Landrover? The Queen does…..

You the ones who chose Letizia should look at full body pics of her. Skinny one. Also, Letizia is just the "official" queen, the (new) king keeping with his father's tradition of having a good many mistresses all over the country and beyond; also Letizia got to her position and will keep it whatever her husband does with his spare time. Mrs. Middleton looks like more than enough a woman to keep the British prince on full occupation… ;-) And she looks friendly while Letizia is more about her station than anything else.

I'd choose Kate hands down. As would most non fanboy subjects (to) of the Spanish monarchy.

Thanks for your graceful commentary. However I doubt the country is too worried, I suspect the country will manage to survive without your inspired service…

My troops are all 15mm tall and made of lead so I'm not sure Kate of Letizia could do much to inspire them. Having said that, I would happily let either woman blow on my dice …

Cuchulainn03 Jun 2014 4:17 a.m. PST

Kate every time.

I am with the Spaniards who are calling for this opportunity to make Spain a republic. I wish England did not have a monarchy and an aristocracy. I have nothing against the personalities as such, just the institutions.

John the OFM03 Jun 2014 10:34 a.m. PST

As a Yank, I hope that England (yes, I said "England") stays a monarchy. Why would you want to turn into just another Euro-state?

Sure, it's none of my business, but that never stops Euros from butting into ours. grin

But for the purposes of this discussion, I like Kate better, and think that the future queen of Spain looks too much like Priscilla Presley.

Bangorstu03 Jun 2014 12:40 p.m. PST

Has to be Kate.

Any royal who used to use the same supermarket as me has to get my support really :)

SJDonovan04 Jun 2014 2:21 a.m. PST

Kate goes to Lidl?

Bangorstu04 Jun 2014 5:02 a.m. PST

Waitrose…. :)

Bangorstu04 Jun 2014 10:57 a.m. PST

John – why England?

Betty will remain Queen of Scotland even if it does go independent.

And a lot of the Euro-states are monarchies.

Like Spain, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Denmark, Andorra and the Vatican.

Bangor, that was a good point, so good you made it twice :)

Never mind all this pontificating anyways, The Queen is the best we could have, God Bless Her, and the rest that follow will be the best for their time too.

(I am, admittedly, a Loyalist Royalist.) :)
