I'm going to work now on my SciFi rules set and I need a name. Not tied to specific fluff, but aimed at the big-skirmish level where each player commands up to a platoon. Units are squads of about 10 figures each, players control 2-4 squads plus command. Current working title is Eagles & Honor & Smoke. I'm sure the Hive Mind here can do better If you suggest a name and I end up suing it, fame, glory, groupies and a free copy will be yours! |

Keeping with the Extra Crispy recipe, how about Original Recipe SciFi rules? ;) Seriously, Eagles, Honor, and Smoke sounds like a Napoleonic ruleset, although it does strike me as a great title for a game. |

I don't want anyone "suing" my names so
Lemme think about it. I agree with idontbelieveit. The current name sounds like a Napoleonic set. |

Well that joke landed with a resounding "thud." With all the ribbing over the This & That name structure, I thought I was making a funny. Happily, TMP has corrected that erroneous impression. I kinda like Universal Burnout, and Glory Amongst the Nebulae

what is the flavor or context of the rules--nations fighting in space, aliens, explorers? |
Zephyr1 | 31 May 2014 2:45 p.m. PST |
If it's lots of varieties of tentacly aliens, then go with
"Squirmish!" ;-) "Command & Conflict" "Take'em Out!" "The Forgotten War" "Fire and Frenzy" or "Fire and Fury" "We've Got Guns" "Blood Beneath the Falling Stars" "Glorplmzzx" (no idea what it means, but there it is) "Death^3" ("Death cubed") "In Defeat, Dishonor" |

Star Sargent. Even after 500 years it is still the NCO that holds the squad and platoons together. There are still 90 day wonder lieutenants that show up to guide the drops onto all the planets that we have to take but when it comes down to the meat being cut by the metal, the men and women still look to their STAR SARGENT! |

@Chortle: The rules are written and have been playtested, at least in their original draft. So that part is kinda done. What I need to do now is clean up the draft, and start in on some army lists. So right now I'm researching cool ranges to develop lists for. @ the OFM: That's taken – it's GW's new game. Though you can't copyright titles
@ Evil Gong: Clever. I like it. I like Drop Ship Troopers but that's awful close to the Mongoose Game
A Handful of Stars is kinda cool and poetic sounding
