Has anyone read The Indian Mutiny by Julian Spilsbury and if so is it any good?

As you might guess I'm looking for details of battles.

Also has anyone read Saul David's book of the same title and does it have good military detail?

Thanks

If you want military detail, including lots of OBs, get the The History of the Royal and Indian Artillery in the Mutiny of 1857. see here

Both are general histories with only very limited battle information – see recent threads on the same topic. And don't miss the OOBs sold by TVAG, which are invaluable for the composition of the British forces.

Check out FIBIwiki if you want details on battles – it's an incredible resource with hundreds of battles listed, often with links to contemporary accounts such as the original reports in the Gazette – be warned, it's addictive!
