Let's see how much they would cost piecemeal: Terminator Squads x 4 = $200.00 USD Storm Raven = $82.50 USD Land Raider = $74.25 USD Venerable Dreadnought = $46.25 USD Total = $403.00 USD So even without the new exclusive Terminator Captain that comes with the box set you save 24 percent. |

I put the blame on quantitative easing. You may as well sink your money in now while it is worth something. |

So undeniably a worthwhile saving, and if you only want to play WH40K that's good enough. When you look at the wider wargaming marketplace though, for that money, it's £190.00 GBP here in the UK, I could buy Warlord's Armoured Fist and Panzergrenadiers! box sets, each 3 vehicles and 30 infantry for £65.00 GBP, and still have enough change for a couple more tanks and the Bolt Action rules in ebook format. Alternatively Mantic would sell me 4 £50.00 GBP army sets for only a tenner more, and their rules are free. So I could provide both sides for decent games of Warpath, and Kings of War, for about the same money. I appreciate that GW's miniatures are, on the whole, very good quality, and the vehicles are substantial and impressive models. In term of value for money, and models on the table though, they are almost absurdly expensive. |

Alternatively go to Ebay and pick up all those vehicles and units (albeit a slightly older set of models), for a fraction. |

But that is hardly relevant. If you aren't interested in doing WWII that stuff doesn't really do you much good. If you compare this to something like Infinity where the models are often $12 USD-15 each then it isn't such a bad deal at all. But if you want to play Infinity then these Terminators don't do you much good. Neither do the WWII figures. I could survive on beans, bananas and spinach and it would be a healthy and cheap source of food, but I like chicken and beef and pizza. It isn't really all about value for money, it is a hobby, all of this is disposable income. If you really like 40K or Infinity then you want the models and might not be happy with something else. |

Much as am guilty of complaining about GW prices Pictor is spot on. At my favorite local gaming store 40K has a devoted following of players that spend their money on just 40K. They run HUGE games, have much of their stuff painted to a high standard, and appear to be having fun. As Pictor stated it is disposible income or at least you would hope so. If they are spending the rent money then that is their problem not GW. Regardless it is how they want to buy their toys. I have for some time not been the customer that GW wants to attract. I still have much of my Chaos Marine force with I have fond memories of having games with. My sons have Eldar, Tau, and Blood Angels Space Marines among their collection. All three of us have not bought any GW product in a long time as the game just got too expensive for us. I and they would rather spend it on Historical gaming or in my son's case they would rather buy the latest video game. Different strokes for different folks. |

I no longer play GW games, mostly because they have priced themselves out of my spending range. With that said, I don't think I have ever said they are overpriced. If the wargaming economy supports profits at their price range, I wish them good fortune. *If* I had that much money to spend on the hobby, I could buy every side for every game I want to play for the next two years. |

Better buy them now. Who knows what they will cost next year! |

I may as well swell my stifles and ignores and say that they look about as dopey as figures can possibly look. |

Pictors – You go on that diet and they'll have to increase the ventilation at conventions. And install a lot of air fresheners
Which, now that I think about it, wouldn't be such a bad thing

They obviously have to support the opium habit that led to the development of the Taurox

My two kids are straying from playing tabletop games with their dad ( good for them ,signs of character and independence). However one is into manga ,anime and the other is into online games xbox and all it's coverage. Both of these " hobbies " cost a damn sight more than this or any other tabletop army set . Thought I would give a different angle on things by comparing interests. For the record they both still kept their armies ,unlike changing DVD's mags and games at the drop of a hat. |

It's the $10 USD per plastic Terminator that really "sells" this one. Not. |
