To take a walk, just a little walk,
Down beside where the warters flow,
Down by the banks of the Ohio.

Wargamers are always looking for a good feed, right? And a free party? Am I right?

The annual street party known as The Taste of Cincinnati is now in full swing on 5th Street.

I went yesterday by myself, today with my Best Beloved. We parked in the garage at Broadway & 7th. No $10 USD Event Parking for Myer Horowitz' little boy, this place charges $5 USD and it's only two blocks from where the party starts at Broadway & 5th.

Took an hour to walk from Broadway to Vine, eating and drinking as we went, and another hour to walk back doing the same. Plenty of sun, beer and lightly dressed nubiles all the way. Stopped and ate in the shade of the arbors of the P&G Park. Yesterday one of my favorite local bands, Kentucky Myle, performed. Today there was plenty of other music. Carnival rides! Balloons! Face painting! The occasional harmless crazy person. Mostly harmless. Summer in the city!

The party goes on half the night tonight, and again tomorrow. If you're in town, don't miss it.

Be sure to hit the RED SESAME Korean BBQ. Tell 'em Ron and Paula sent you and you might get a lil extra meat in you taco. or not.
Anyways, it's great tasting food.

Did you get you face painted like Spider Man or a pirate?

Joe, the rib joint ran out of napkins and there was so much barbecue sauce caked on my face, that no one could tell what was under there.

You must be right about the Red Sesame, Ravenscraft. It smelled great! But the customers were packed so thick around the stand that I couldn't fight my way through.

Saturday the Chris Ruth Steakhouse served a beef tenderloin with sweet potato casserole that was outstanding, melted in my mouth. Their stand wasn't there today, they might have run out in just one day.

Lamb kebab at the Oasis Mediterranean Grill was perfect, crispy-charred on the outside, red-rare on the inside, tender, hot juice ran down my chin. Slaughter another lamb Habib, I want seconds!

The Jameson Steak Burger at the Claddagh Irish Pub is an under-appreciated masterpiece. Whisky makes *everything* better.

The Creme Brule at Market Street Grill was so good, I never got a taste from My Love, it was all gone by the time I'd finished my ribs (Eddie's Southern Barbecue, meh, average). So I had strawberry shortcake from Indigo Casual Gourmet Cafe for dessert. Yum.

Where I live I can get Izzy Kadetz deli and Terra Buono gelato any day, but you should try those stands.

Yeah, it's all about the food. And the beer. And the music. And the sun. Did I mention the nubiles? Drunk and dancing.

Sounds like a perfect way to spend a couple days.

Isn't it Ruth Chris, not the other way 'round?

I think you're right Buzzkill, Ruth Chris. I grabbed a couple books of matches to remember them by, but the graphics are so farmisht that I couldn't tell the order of the names! Thanx.

zippy, sounds like a wonderful time, but from rest of the lyrics of the lead-in song, I was wondering who you pushed in the river to drown?

zippyfusenet26 May 2014 4:40 p.m. PST

I held my knife against her breast,
As into my arms she pressed,
Crying, "Oh Willie! Don't murder me!
"I'm not prepared for eternity!"

Mmm yeah, all kinds of crazy violent stuff tends to happen down by the river. Sometimes for understandable reasons.

Hang down your head Tom Dooley,
Hang down your head and cry.
Hang down your head Tom Dooley,
You got the Nashville Clap.

But not between my gal and me. We agree very well, as it happens,

Then he took out his silver dagger,
Plunged it into his lily-white breast,
Saying, "Goodbye, father, and goodbye, mother.
Goodbye to the ones that I love best."

Then she took out her silver dagger,
Plunged it into her lily-white breast,
Saying, "Goodbye, father, and goodbye, mother.
Goodbye to the ones that I love best."

Let's all take out our silver daggers,
Plunge them into our lily-white breasts,
Saying, "Goodbye, father, and goodbye, mother.
Goodbye to the ones that we love best."
