I started a few months ago a new project, a Oldhammer Chaos Army. My plan is to paint the Chaos army I wanted to do as a child but never had the money or skills to do. Really, call it unfinished business.

To date I've painted :

Chaos Dwarfs ( link )

A Jabberwock ( link )

Chaos Trolls ( link )

Undivided Chaos Warriors ( link )

And a Chaos Lord ( link )

Yes, I know the Lord is actually not that old but I just really like the figure!

I'm currently working on a unit of Beastmen.

For those interested, more to be found on my blog : link

Hope you like them,

nice looking forces, really like the shades you used on your Lord's horse.

Are you sourcing old metal figures?

When you see them painted like this the old stuff looks better than the new. Very well done friend. Cheers and happy gaming

Excellent! : )

Nice paints on those for sure.
This reminds me that I need some trolls for my own Oldhammer forces… though I'm not sure I want the 'official' ones.

Well done Sir!! That Chaos champion with the goat skull is one of my all time favorites. I have three of them myself.

Ive got a bunch of the old school Chaos guys laying around. I may have to give them a go sometime.

Good stuff!!

But if you are going "Oldhammer" what is this undivided nonsense ;)
Back in the day you threw your lot in behind a god and fought against any heretical unbelievers, followers of other Chaos gods in preference to anyone else.

Lovely painting on some really great figures.

Thanks guys!

@Brian: I'm always interested in 80s, early 90s GW figures. Drop me an email iannickm AT gmail DOT com if you have stuff you want to get rid of.

@Chuck: If you read my blog I basically said the same thing about the Chaos Champion in bone armour. Just a fantastic figure.

@Rob: lol. I've always liked the original Chaos in all its undivided glory (the one from Warhammer armies). My plan is to then paint contingent of the chaos gods which can just be added to my "basic" chaos army to create variety and Chaos God specific armies.

Yes it always seems odd to me that they split up the chaos warriors and the beastmen. Surely that's not very chaotic but I suppose its just about selling figures?

Space Monkey26 May 2014 1:26 p.m. PST

I like that older version of Chaos as well… when it was just a marauding horde of random malcontents and mutants.
The Realm Of Chaos stuff is fun too… and so that idea of having a core army with specific factions to plug in has been my approach as well… though I seem to have definitely favored Khorne and Slaanesh with my collecting.

I would think that splitting up the armies might hurt figure sales. Im far more likely to buy a unit or two of beastmen or demons to bolster my chaos warriors than I am to start brand new armies made up solely of beastmen or demons.

…but it also forced many Chaos players to completely redo their army in order to be able to play recent editions.
