My understanding is that is a word for word rendition. Parody in that it shows how skewed the views are |

I only ever knew a few D&D players into Satanism, and they had been into *that* before they were into the game. |

Reminds me of "Monsters and Mazes," (another great Tom Hanks comedy.) YouTube link |

As a word of warning: It's worth noting that only a few of Chic's tracts were about D&D. He actually covered a wide variety of topics. Many of them are deeply offensive to some, but he also has a rather devout following, and there are certainly those who will react strongly if you speak ill of him. Having said that, my favorite Chic tract was the one where a Rabbi's student tries to convert the Rabbi to Christianity. The Rabbi immediately thinks something along the lines of "While I realize Christ is the messiah, I can't acknowledge the truth of Christianity or I will lose my important position in the community" as opposed to "Years of study have lead me to different conclusions on what is obviously a complex topic." At the end the late Rabbi dies and goes to hell. I can't think of a better example that Chic was not know for his nuanced arguments. |

The answer is right in article. "Is Dark Dungeons serious? Yes, and no. The filmmakers set out to present an on-the-nose interpretation of Chick's perspective on gaming, and that's exactly what they did. Save for a few gamer-friendly easter eggs for gamers and cameos by ZOE regulars, the movie is carefully faithful to Chick's world." I find it funny because I just saw Maze and Monsters for the first time two weeks ago. Now here I am see a trailer for basically another version of that? Whoa! |

Given that it is being premiered at Gencon, it is rather obvious the target audience is the gaming community, not the out of touch fringe folk who are still holding out about how evil D&D is. Besides, we are all playing Pathfinder now, not D&D. =) |

James Wright, of course the gaming community is the obvious target audience, they need to to be warned! ;-) |

I'll see it. I'll laugh. I'll go to bed secure in the knowledge that my laughter did not offend the film maker 1 bit. |

Parody or not, there's guaranteed to be at least one misguided soul out there that buys into it at face value, and probably a non-zero number of gaming groups that start injecting a bit of faux-satanic pageantry into their sessions. |

Chick Tracts have always been hilarious fun. I wonder if this is somehow a marketing 'coincidence' for the release of D&D 5e? |

If you want to distract one of his followers, just point them to a nearby Catholic. Few things they hate more fervently. |
