I'm running a 70th Anniversary game commemorating the assault on Pegasus Bridge (D-Day, June 6th).

This is the MAPHOGS club game I have been laboring on for the upcoming convention, NJCON-"Fire in the East" (June 6-7, 2014, Edison, NJ).

All the terrain has been sculpted and hard shelled with "goop". Now for the painting and flocking. I completed the Canal this weekend which turned out pretty well.

Getting into the home stretch now. Hope you like.

Pegasus Bridge is an extremely popular gaming project, and I must say your bridge is absolutely superb!

Looks great Tom. Unfortunately I can't make it to NJCON this year.

I must say that is the best looking water I have seen, how did you do it?

I'm going to be at the real bridge next week. There's a nice cafe there now that does good food, so hopefully be stopping for lunch :)

Thanks guys, I'm glad you like what you see so far.
I'll share some more pictures in the coming weeks.

@ John de:
The water technique consists of a painted layer of several colors.
I used shades of various tans, greens and aquas applied with a natural sponge.
The glossy top layer is two part gloss varnish that is brushed on. While the varnish begins to dry, you blot the surface with a clean sponge.

@DeRuyter:
Sorry I will not see you there. Jim and Chris have already registered and will be attending.

TRUgamer,

Fantastic job, really beautiful!

When I first saw the pics on my iPhone I wasn't sure if you'd used varnish or multiple layers of two-part clear resin with coloring in the top layer. Now that we know it was a two-part brush-on gloss varnish, could you please tell us the brand name…?

TRUgamer20 May 2014 5:36 a.m. PST

Thanks Mad Guru.

Since you prompted me to actually check the package it is in fact a two part epoxy finish. The brand is Parks "Super Glaze" ultra gloss epoxy.

You could very easily add inks to tint the mixture if you choose.

Should be a great game.

Well I've finally finished Pegasus Bridge with less than two days to go before the convention. Nothing like going down to the wire!

I will sleep well once this weekend is behind me. Here are a couple of quick teaser photos to share the final results.

I hope to see you this weekend.

Looks amazing! I can't wait to see it in person.

Tom,

Great job on the bridge.

Perhaps you could leave your Friday game set up on Saturday so that everyone who attends NJCon can see your work?

See you soon.
