Looks like Bolt Action might be getting some playtime at my club. I want in. Looking for figures suitable for British or Indian infantry in Italy or Burma. Warlord have Chindits, not really what I want
and the box set contains a donkey. Don't like paying for stuff I don't want. Like wise the perry plastic box set contains prone figures. I don't like or want prone figures. Anyone else? |

Brigade Games has ANZACs for the Pacific, The Assault Group has Chindits and Artizan has 8th Army types. |

Anzacs could pass for 14th Army right? |

Just looked at assault group and brigade. Really nice figures. But bren gunners are prone. |

The Perry's have metal Brits in long trousers, some packs do not contain prone figures. I saw these at Salute, they are very nice indeed. |

Here you go, a pack of NCOs and standing Bren gunners - link I don't see why they could pass for 14th Army. |

Italy would allow anything from Shorts to denims to BD to overcoats. Burma would be long pants only. So either dyed denims or jungle greens. Strangely enough, the best figures I ever saw for denims was Strongholds' line, 'battleground' I think. I wish there was a way to get a hold of them again. |

Helmets are ok for Burma? |

Those Australian figures are absolutely fine for Burma. The Australians did tend to wear US-style gaiters in the Pacific, which wouldn't be so suitable, but those figures appear to be wearing British-style anklets, which is perfect. That said, East African troops in Burma were photographed wearing US gaiters, so it probably wouldn't be inaccurate in any case. The Perry figures in long trousers are also great for Burma. Shorts were generally not worn, though there were one or two exceptions. Figures labelles as 'Chindits' are generally fine for XIVth Army as a whole. Mules are also absolutely fine – used to carry all manner of kit by many units and formations (particularly 3-inch mortars, Vickers MMGs and 3.7-inch Mountain Howitzers). Helmetted figures are absolutely fine, as indeed is virtually any form of soft headdress bar bearskins. There are photos of all types of headdres being worn in Burma and in one photo of a platoon I've counted no fewer than eight different types of hat! |
