So, I decided to give in to the obsession and try my hand at some larger scale sculpting. Sculpted in 1/12 scale, entirely out of Magic Sculpt on a soldered paperclip armature.

Now I just need to find a figure caster in the UK that can make me some copies…

Great work! Thank you for sharing it.

My wife will kill for that. Literally, she'd maim some ne, she has a minor obsession with Elsa.

That's really neat. Any hints on how you're getting such a smooth surface?

ZandrisIV16 May 2014 12:06 p.m. PST

@Dr Mathias

When I sculpt I lubricate with a moisturising lotion (Nivea) rather than water/vaseline. Also, standard wet/dry sandpaper starting at 240grit and working up to 800grit.

To be fair, Magic Sculpt is very easy to get smooth, even after you've sanded it repeatedly, it's part of the reason I adore it so.

@Glenn M

I might be able to help you with the maiming, assuming I can find a figure caster. ;)

That's pretty amazing to scroll down and watch the transformation from alien to Disney character. I can't even sculpt a wad of sculpting material.

Great work!

My daughter has just spent 15 minutes going through this top to bottom, then again, then again, then again …
