Any thoughts on using Perry Plastics for American Militia late war south? I want to do some Guildford Ct House militia, but there are so many, I really don't want to do them in lead. |

the perry plastic's are a bit to uniformed for my idea of militia, from what I've seen. awesome figures for sure. maybe mix them up with more rag-tag figures? I'm sure some militiamen had uniforms laying around. wargames factory is about to come out with plastic militia, if you can wait. they look pretty good. not perry good, but not bad either. my personal army is a mix of manufacturers, with the perry's figs up front an center. i'll be getting a load of wargames factory stuff to mix in for sure |

I know that you said that you don't want lead but Kings Mountain Minis are specifically made for the War in the South. In fact Greene's Army has just arrived. Your gonna need Highlanders too. kingsmtminis.com/catalog Her's a link to the greens for the Continentals and Dismounted Dragoons. I should have something up on the website by Sunday picturing the figures. I'm in the process of staining them for pix. TMP link |

They have been rumored, but I fear they are off in the distance. In a pinch, you probably could use the Perry continentals marching casually without bayonet (as uniformed militia). Wargames Factory look pretty good. I don't know how compatible they will be with Perry. Half are suppose to be in hunting shirts and backwoods trousers.

You might look at Fife&Drum. I really like their figures and am using some of their militia for New England. IMHO they have that "grabbed my musket and powder horn and Jonathan's gone for a soldier" look. |

Long wait for perry plastic militia judging by the greens they have displayed. Wargames factory ones will be out before them but as you have seen from the PIC above they just won't be as good as perry stuff unless you are a genius painter. |

I think the WGF and Perry figures will fit well together. I have 12 WGF British and 1 Perry British Regular, primed red. I was looking for the Perry fig last night and couldn't find it. Searched high and low and went over my desk twice (admittedly it is very cluttered). Finally I found him, mixed with the WGF figures which I'd looked over twice. I didn't spot him, and I knew what pose I was looking for. The detailing is almost identical (like the flintlock mechanism, coat lace as examples). The head is slightly bigger on the Perry's, and the hats are slightly different- with the Perry's hats and body poses being more animated and 'realistic'. Just my 2 cents. |

Hello All, You might want to check out the link below. Our new militia codes that just came out might suit some of your needs. Even though they are listed with the FIW figures, I think they will cross over nicely. They are about 33mm tall from the bottom of the base to the top of the head. take care, Keith link |

Those Wargames Factory look good to me. I'm guessing Perry is years away? |

There will be Perry plastic AWI militia, but not for a wee while yet, given the other plastics in the pipeline and Renedra's workload. Most likely to be a "firing line". |

Thanks Hans. As the head of Research, Development and Product Design for Wargames Factory I can tell you a little about our AWI Range. The Colonial Militia, which Hans has shown with his picture (painted by Matthew Leahy), will be releasing fairly soon (along with our British Infantry and Colonial Army). The militia are multi-part plastics (Body, Right arm, Left Arm and Head) and will come 30-figures to a box (bases included). Most are armed with French Muskets but some can be given Kentucky Long Rifles. 1/2 of the figures are modeled with typical 18th century "street" attire and1/2 are modeled with hunting shirts and buckskins. There are three styles of hat – tri-corn, floppy and stocking making them suitable for both earlier (FIW) and later (1812) eras. There are also provisions for officers and musicians; standard bearers are easily converted if one is so inclined. There are 6-sets in our AWI range, three of which I just mentioned with the other 3 awaiting announcement. You can find out more information on our Facebook page link our website wargamesfactory.com or for the latest info and to join in the discussion, our forums forum.wargamesfactory.com Hope to see you all there. |

Will AWI miniatures be ok for FIW British provincials / tory troops? Sorry for the slight segue. |

Depends on how historically accurate you want to be, as even civilians would have looked a bit different 20 years earlier. In military units, the general cut and style of the uniforms, the colour of the small clothes, and the legwear would all be distinctive. |
