Wow, this went south quicker than I expected. All of you negative commenters, please just lighten up (notice, a polite request and not a demand.) This is a hobby forum, not the end of the world. |

What Stealth1000 said. The complaints are about WHO is posting far more than WHAT is in those posts. If they were all by different people no one would complain
so really it's just seeing Tango's name attached that's getting up their chute
meaning it's a diatribe against a single individual
petty bullying, that's all. |

It's quite a few, but not 1 in 3. And I can see all the threads from the 16th, and threads from 14th as well. If I really wanted to see more threads, I'd turn off some of the boards that are of little or no real interest. How far back should the front page go ? 5 Days? 10? A month ? Two full days and some older stuff doesn't seem that unreasonable (to me). |

20thMaine – Does your list of topics take into account that Tango was in the Doghouse for five days, and so maybe couldn't do his usual amount of topics? I can't recall exactly which day he came out. Also, bear in mind that if you only have a few boards showing on your FrontPage, the number of Tango posts will obviously be a lot less. If you have quite a few boards that interest you (as I do), then the proportion of Tango posts could be more. But I do agree that a proportion of one-in-three is probably an over-exaggeration (in most cases). |
20thmaine | 16 May 2014 5:11 p.m. PST |
He emerged from the Dawghouse on the 14th. Logically, if anything being Dawghoused for 5 days should have allowed him to build up a larger than usual set of interesting links to use once back on TMP
. As soon as one cuts back the total number of boards being followed the less of an issue this should be. If one see's 60 posts per day, then that's three and a half days available on the front page. If it's only 40 posts then 5 full days. I list everything, and accept a heavy turnover – even if Tango01 doesn't post that's maybe 100 new threads per day – so two days is the limit that will still be visible on the front page even under that circumstance. I've found that most threads people will lose interest in after a couple of days. |

I've found that most threads people will lose interest in after a couple of days. If the threads develop any interest at all. There are many threads out there with less than 10 posts. And in the discussion boards that I frequently browse (Ancients, Medieval, Renaissance, ACW), the threads on the bottom of the first pages have last posts in April (March for Medieval). I'd say that the issue isn't that Tango posts too frequently, but that other people do not post frequently enough. |
| Arteis | 16 May 2014 5:29 p.m. PST |
I follow so many boards because I am interested in so many of them. I don't feel that I should have to remove some of the boards I like because of the behaviour of one individual. In the past, a topic lasted about five days on the frontpage (using my board settings). Now it is usually three. This of course could also be because of other people posting more, not just Tango. But Tango by his sheer volume certainly accounts for a good portion of this. |
20thmaine | 16 May 2014 5:51 p.m. PST |
As I said above – even if Tango01 didn't post at all, if all boards are followed two – maybe two and a bit – days are the best you'll ever get. That's just a feature of TMP. With the 200 thread limit, five days displayed means only 40 threads per day – and we get 100+ threads per day without counting Tango01. The only way to get five days is to cut back the boards to be listed on the front page. That's just how TMP works. |
| platypus01au | 16 May 2014 7:12 p.m. PST |
Hi, Because I have eclectic interests, I subscribe to almost all the boards. Recently I've only been able to see about 2 days worth of posts. Sometimes 1 and a half. Before Tango it was 3 to 4. Why is this a problem? The issue here is that unless you bookmark those threads you have participated in, within 2 days you have no idea what threads you have participated in. Bill's software doesn't tell you, so I have to rely on the thread being highlighted. I understand that I could just bookmark those threads, but I should not have to do that. This effects how I interact with the community. Until Bill gets TMP v4 out, and that may be some time, I'm stuck with only being able to comment once or twice before the thread is lost. Tango – go away. you add no value. This is all just ads. please – i used to check daily.. |
| GarrisonMiniatures | 17 May 2014 3:23 a.m. PST |
Tango – stay, just be more selective. You do add value – usually. |
| Ivan DBA | 17 May 2014 8:52 a.m. PST |
Garrison Miniatures: I feel the same way. Tango finds great stuff daily. But he has made it abundantly clear he will never voluntarily be more selective. In one of the few instances where he even bothered to answer us, he said something like, "Whatever. I like it, I post it." That is why we now have no alternative left but to ask Bill to take action. |
| BelgianRay | 17 May 2014 1:40 p.m. PST |
platypus01au :don't be lazy and bookmark your participated threads. Bill's software is what it is and TMP's popularity increasment will only have more people putting up threats. So Tango or no Tango, the "problem" will not dissapear. Adapt and don't take it out on anything else. A very good baker I get my bread from is getting so popular it is sometimes time consuming (because of the quantity of clients) to get there without to have to wait too long. I adapted and go in those hours when there is less commotion. Adapt, times change
