Here's our module built up area. Its 3x3 inch Ground scale is for AOE 1 inch 120 yards

Looks very scale appropriate. I've been thinking about ways to do something along these lines. Is that Irregular's stuff? |

The scale is a compromise between figure scale and ground scale so it more like 1/500 and I cast them myself here are some more pics

With pre set spaces sized for your troop basing, those are very nice indeed. |

The buildings look nice, but as a life long 6mm gamer I've never liked my figures to be as tall as the second storey or more. Also thick bases add so much height in this scale, I prefer a thinner base. The felt road and rivers detract from the work you've done on the buildings. Overall the mass effect is good. |

Yes its true of the bases. I used to base on thin metal but we used to handle them from the figures.now we handle the base. As for the felt I also find them offensive but dor the sake of playing historical scenarios we need a very flexible system. Then sometimes we use sculptured terrain link |

You can make really nice looking rivers just by painti g strips of cloth or rubber
look good, flexible and cheap! |

Keep flying the 6mm flag. |

Hello David! Very creative and very well done. I note you have stated that they are undersized for 6mm. Cavalry would probably show that better. It seems that you have a reasonable foot print for the buildings and if they were perhaps just 20% taller you could have still had a great look and a better 6mm match. Was there a reason why you made them shorter? If you want to jazz up the look of your roads first cut your brown felt as uniform as possible. Then put a bead of flexible and paintable silicone brown caulking used for windows etc. down each road. Then quickly use a plastic knife to spread it out. The groves in the knife help create the ruts in the road. Then let it sit overnight. Paint them up anyway you like to help create the colour that you think best represents roads. You will then have a very cheap and flexible road network that also stays reasonably in place on most surfaces. Best regards, Glenn |
