I have been on a search for a Orc crossbow to fit in with my old LOTR Harlequin range, and thought I would share my findings. I got some of the (HM1050) Orc Crossbow and (HM1044) Orc Fighter samples. They are great figures, very good detail, bulky figures, and I mean very large.

I have also been looking for Orc Crossbow, bow and spears to use with my Harlequin figures, Do you have bow and spears in your army and if yes what figures are you using. Keep us informed on what you find for crossbow…Thanks

In my orc army I have only Sword, axe, mace, archers and spear. I use the Thunderbolt mountain Goblins/orcs for spear. They are slightly smaller, but they blend well with the Harlequin LOTR range. I use the old Harlequin Kustoss Orc archers for my archers which are OOP, and the only orc of that range that is worth buying IMO. I also have a few of the Thunderbolt mountain archers which blend ok, but I am not thrilled about them. I was thinking about adding more spear…but my obsession for making a larger orc army has to stop somewhere…..but as I say this….I am thinking again about it….but first I have to settle the crossbow cravings….I may not find any most likely.

I have a sample of the Fantasy Army line orcs with crossbows from Black Tree Design on the way, but they look too cartonish for my tastes, but I thought I would give them a try. I know they are more into scale with the old LOTR Harlequin orcs (hopefully), but I have a feeling I wont like them…I will see soon.

I decided to go with the FA0229 Black Tree Design Orc Crossbow, they painted up rather well.

Meanwhile back to painting 350 orcs…..just finished 50.
