Hi all

Following on from my last topic – can anyone help with identifying the cavalry below – I found it all in the same box so assume they are related :)

Many thanks

Camel Lancers (approx 10)

Heavy Armoured Lancers (approx 20)

Medium Armoured Lancers (approx 30 – not all painted)

Light Lancers (approx 10 – unpainted damaged spears)

Light Cavalry (2 types) – approx 20 – mainly unpainted

Horse Archers (approx 70 – mainly unpainted/part painted)

Could it be Palmyran?

I'd say Parthians except for the camels.

One of the light cavalry types

Some of the others are sold as Sarmatians from the Isarus range and the cataphracts look like late Roman figures from there too.

Photos 1 & 2 are Romano-Byzantine cataphracts.

Photos 3 & 4 are Sarmatians in banded armor, presumed to be leather.

Photo 5 are Huns.

Photos 6 and 7 I don't recognize offhand. Useful mini though, as with the helmet painted as leather, bronze or iron it could be just about any horsearcher from Cimmerians to Tatars.

The minis are old Table Top or newer 15mm UK.

If you are going to identify this grouping as 'an army' the armor styles would easily fit within the Bosporans or perhaps some Late Roman or Byzantine lists.

Older Parthian armies include cataphract camels.

Based on the standard, Medium and light lancers I would say Sarmation.

Light cavalry strange – from the hats I thought Greek then noticed the trousers. So not sure.

I would think that the botton horse archers are Scythian.

Wow thanks for all the replies.

They could all be from different eras/areas I guess – they've been in the loft for twenty years (can't even remember where I bought them – just found them all in the same box)

Off to ebay we go !

You don't remember acquiring and painting them? Well, i can relate to that.

The tails of the horses are quite distinctive.

This may be the Skythian figure from the old Tabletop Indian range. Still available from Battleline Miniatures?

Rare figures!

That first bunch look like the Isaurus/Tabletop LRC3 Cataphract mounted on a camel. Not sure whose camel.

I have some of the figures in the last two pictures and have been trying to ID them myself. Those in the next to the ext to the last picture have a Tin Soldier feel to them, but I haven't seen them on their site.
