Another great show. Artists from around the country and the world showed up to display their work. Everything was impressive, but for me two displays stood out. One was a diorama that depicted the inside of the Tractor Works at Stalingrad. (I think it was in 28mm.) German patrols on the upper floors were looking for Russian snipers down below. The thing was a couple of feet tall. Superb work. Another diorama depicted a canoe going over the falls in a scene right out of "Last of the Mohicans." As for the location, plenty of room, plenty of food (and drink) and easy to get to by car with plenty of parking. If you wanted to avoid it, you would never know that there is a casino there. If anyone took any pictures, please feel free to post them. |

The MFCA show was the first miniatures event I ever attended… in 1972 when it was held at the student union at Weidner College. I bought my first metal wargames figures there (Rose/Gammage and Der Kriegspielers). I also bought a couple of IR 54s and a Historex kit. I think I spent much of the money I saved from my first job which I started earlier in the year! |

I take maybe 300-500 pictures at the MFCA show every year. Let's see… I have from 2002 up to the current show (I didn't have a digital camera prior to 2002). If anyone really wanted copies, I could burn them to a DVD and mail them; all I ask is a couple $ to cover postage and a mailer. Blank DVDs I have a ton of, they're mostly collecting dust now that they're sort of an out-dated technology. I'm not a professional photographer, but most of the pictures are pretty decent (I delete the iffy ones), and they slowly improve over time as my miniature shooting skills (and cameras) get better. 47Ronin is dead-on, that Tractor Works at Stalingrad was mind-boggling. I would guess that was the work of all the spare time he had for several years. The canoe going over the falls… that can only be Christian Petite. All of his work is Indians in some sort of outdoor setting, and nobody does it better than him. His water effects are works of art. You'll see Grand Masters looking at his work and mumbling something like "maybe someday I'll as good as him". It's always a treat to see what he has new every year. |

How about putting just a few of these pics on photo bucket and linking them here so we can see too? |

Wow. Just "Wow." Some of those busts looked like photographs of live human beings. And the coureur de bois canoe coming down the rapids was splendid! |

The photos above are from last year's show (2014). No worry… I took a couple hundred pics of this year (2015) with my new camera. Give me a couple of days to flip the ones that need to be in portrait orientation, and delete the bad ones, and I'll post a nice batch of them. :) |
