found on the web this beautiful painting
please…to which regiment could belong this sowar being rescued by a British infantryman ?
i particularly like the black-red turban (maybe because they are the colour of my favourite football team ?)
and i would like to paint a similar TSTATF Cavalry unit for NWF.

There isn't much information on Indian turban styles but that turban could be the 3rd Bombay Cavalry.

The best reference for Indian cavalry is

'Indian Cavalry Regiments 1880-1914' by AH Bowling. there are three copies on eBay at the moment

However some pages have been posted around the web if you look at fig 13 I think you will find what you are looking for.

I believe the Indian Sowar to be of the 1st Duke of York's Own Lancers (Skinners Horse)
