I rebased some of my original 28mm figures acquired back in the early 80s. Painted with a trowel and enamel paint. Who knew what thinners were in those days? There are a few Hincliffe figs in this lot as well – Grenadiers a Cheval in cloaks – great if you hate painting cavalry uniforms.

Best I have ever seen of Gendarmes d'Elite. The aigulettes on the officer right shoulder. Left on the "troopers" and trumpeters. Triple pistol holsters…nice…very nice.

The cavalry in cloaks……superb, I thought one had to take to Greenstuff for that. Was meant to be my next project, but waiting for Perrys' Russian dragoons in full length overcoats to convert

The old Connoisseur range had virtually no musicians or standard bearers in the cavalry codes – so you have to make your own. My musicians are just the trooper poses with a different paint job. The standard bearers are troopers with their sword cut off and arm bent to take the standard. A lot of the Hinchliffe range (especially the latter stuff) was sculpted by Peter Gilder I think – so they are almost identical in style to the Connoisseur range. Case in point – the heads on those Connoisseur Grenadiers could have come from the Hinchliffe range – or vice cersa.

Classic figures, glad to see they will be on the table once again!

What an amazing chap Peter Guilder was. I like to see his creations on the gaming table. I used one of the Gendarme officers, slightly remodeled, as a Bavarian Guard mounted officer recently. I still have a squadron of the Gendarmes to paint up.

Thanks for sharing, Brian.
