Does anyone know of a suitable miniature around 6mm-10mm that can represent the Imperial Probe Droid seen in the Empire Strikes Back and the Rogue Squadron video game?

link indicates that it should be 1.6 meters in height. Isn't that about 1/2 to 3/4 inch in 1/100 roughly?

Maybe the droid should be about the size of a normal man or a little smaller if possible?

I thought the probe droid was huge, maybe twice the height of a man?

What sort of game system are you planning on using it for? I am thinking of making up one myself for X Wing to go alongside some AT-ATs and AT-STs for a Hoth battle.

Disappointing size, if anyone was planning on buying the Retrokit 1/72 version.

DB Draft, I'm trying to use it for the FFG X-Wing Miniature Game.

Thanks for the Khurasan suggestion, but the Khurasan 15mm scale are supposedly 17-18mm tall.

I do believe the size of the Viper Imperial Probe Droid that was sent to Hoth is 1.6m tall, which would put a 6mm scale figure around 5-6mm.

Anyone know anything smaller than the Khurasan 15mm?

DB Draft12 May 2014 3:43 p.m. PST

Thats cool, we could start thinking about stats for it, I have troop models about 10mm tall so that is about the size range I am using. I am trying to make a couple out of green stuff. At this scale it doesn't need to have much detail, I will post a pic when I get some time.

Here is a quick WIP of the Probe Droid I am making with a Rebel Hoth trooper for size which is 10mm in height from foot to top of head.

Stat wise I am thinking:

Attack: 1
Defense: 2
Hull: 1
Shields: 0

Actions: Focus, Evade

A special ability could be something to represent scouting and recon. Something like it could remove an evade token from a ground target (if evade tokens were used to represent a target dug in and gone to ground). The focus token could be used for this as it "looks" appropriate for a spying action.

fightinghellfish13 May 2014 11:39 a.m. PST

For stats I was thinking:

360 degree Attack: 1*
Agility: 4
Hull: 1
Shields: 0

No actions
No upgrades

*Only hits on a crit and only causes standard damage. Primary Weapon Range 1-2. No +1 Attack Dice at Range 1.

The model looks great. But I think your Rebel trooper is too big. From my understanding, the scale is 1/270 which is around 6mm.

But I think the Viper Probe Droid should be a little bigger in scale, so you can see it on the battlefield.

What are you doing for the legs, so the won't break off?

DB Draft13 May 2014 1:57 p.m. PST

All of my "ground based" Hoth stuff is not strictly X Wing scale but are close enough. The main focus is on ground units interacting against each other but it would be nice to have it compatible with X Wing and other ships. It would be great to have TIE Bombers attacking ground installations and Y Wings "ioning" AT-ATs.

I am planning on basing troops on round bases to represent squads. The Viper droid will be based on its own, probably on a smaller base. I might try using staples or thin wire for the legs. I agree that it's range should be no more than 1-2. I was also thinking that for most infantry units' shooting that all crits ae converted to hits.

Are you planning on doing a Hoth style battle or are these for a custom ground strafing mission? How many of these were you planning on having on the table at one time?

fightinghellfish18 May 2014 11:57 p.m. PST

Hi DB Draft,
I'm looking for Viper Probe Droids for custom ground strafing missions. I'd probably have 4-6 on the table at a time.

I'm also working on a Hoth style battle.

How is your custom droid coming along?

Also, is there a way to send private messages on here?

DB Draft19 May 2014 2:24 a.m. PST

My droid is still as he is, he's waiting for some friends to join him. I am working on other Hoth stuff from the following inventory:

6 x AT-ATs
8 x AT-STs
12 x T-47 snowspeeders
9 x DF.9 Turrets
6 x 1.4 FD P-Towers
24 x Rebel infantry bases
6 x Rebel Tautaun bases
12 x Imperial Snowtrooper bases
3 x Probe Droid bases

As far as PMs go it seems you have to be a supporting member of TMP to send and receive these.

What are you using for all the other models?
