One of the best games of 40K I ever played was with the last chancers. I think it was 3.0 or 3.5. It was the last chancers vs. 1500 pts of Tau or maybe 2000, it was years ago, probably in 2001. Great game. The last chancers had to take a battlesuit out and then the mech guy had to hot wire it and fly it off the table, for which we made up rules. He got to one move away from the table edge when he got hit in the back with a rail gun and died. All the other last chancers were pretty much dead I think. |

Sounds like a heap of fun! I pretty sure Carl has got Tau also. |

Nice unit. Clearly inspired by this guy and his squad of misfits.

I always thought the Last Chancers were inspired by the movie The Dirty Dozen. |

Nice! I have the whole 12 painted up – a few years back we had an Apocoplyse battle when the Guard faced off against traitors, Dark Elves and a horde of Tyranids; I had a Shadowsword that moved not once during the game but picked off enemy heavy units like fleas, but the heroes were the Last Chancers, who in true penal legion fashion took a bridge (objective) from the 'nids and held it to the last four battered survivors to scrap a win for the Guard |

I always thought the Last Chancers were inspired by the movie The Dirty Dozen. According to Gav Thorpe, who authored "The Last Chancers", they are are based on the Dirty Dozen. |

Yep, I though the same
The Dirty Dozen
even though, I think Schaeffer was based somewhat on SGT Steiner [in the above posted pic] in Cross Of Iron. And IIRC wasn't "Schaeffer", Arnie's name in Predator ? My 6mm Epic version of the Last Chancers

That paint job would grace much bigger figures than 6mm. Superb. |
