Hi Guys,

We've been working on a new alien race which will be released very shortly….

The Cnidocytes (pronounced Nid – o- sight ) are a multi-genus life form, with each genus within the species fulfilling a set role.

The vast bulk of the species is made up of Drones. Slightly taller than a human, these tentacled, mono eyed beasts are unthinking. Steadily floating towards their prey, their sole purpose is to gather and absorb genetic material.

Also sighted are a genus dubbed the "Snapper". Larger and faster than the Drones, this genus has a huge beak which can shear through flesh and armour with equal ease. These Snappers have be sighted in packs working around the flanks of Drones.

There are also reports of a genus which floats amounts the Drones providing a locoalised psychic shield which is capable of stopping incoming small arms fire. In greater numbers they have been seen to stop artillery and tank shells.

These are just the first few confirmed reports. Reports from out-posts suggest another 8 identifiable Genus, along with creatures comparable to Armour, Artillery and APCs…..

A few shots, with many more to come in the next few days. The human dolly blank is the same size as Khurasans Devgru (as a size comparison)

Stay tuned!

Interesting…

DyeHard06 May 2014 2:18 p.m. PST

Fantastic! The one with the beak is giving me the willies.
I very much like the depth on the subject, not jut one or two, but many related figures.

Open Fire Figures06 May 2014 2:20 p.m. PST

Cheers, I should have noted too that there will be at least 4 of each model type sculpted. We want to give as much variety as possible.

Cheers!

Open Fire Figures06 May 2014 2:21 p.m. PST

@ Terrement, I'll post a pic next to a 28mm fig for you.

BlackWidowPilot Fezian06 May 2014 2:22 p.m. PST

The one with the beak reminds me of the calamari steak I had for lunch the other day…evil grin

Not quite Kolvorock but I think the drone is as near as I'm going to get in 25mm. About middle chest on a 25mm human?

I think that His Exelency Cheif of the Intergalantic Police may get his assistant.

I love this! 15mm sci-fi is really missing alien-aliens.

AVAMANGO06 May 2014 6:32 p.m. PST

The Snapper Genus looks interesting it reminds me of the old AD+D Krell.

Very nice sculpts and concepts. I've followed and liked on FB and Twitter.

I fear to behold any "heavies" you have planned!

Best,

Very nice! Non scale specific and usable in armies or as fauna. I'm sold. I especially like the snapper.

Greywing07 May 2014 5:49 a.m. PST

Nice models; good luck with these.

Please note, though, that you are using some real-world scientific terms incorrectly. You say "The Cnidocytes … are a multi-genus life form, with each genus within the species fulfilling a set role."

A genus is a larger group than a species. There are species within a genus, not genera within a species. If you're intent on keeping the word "genus" to describe individual types of models, you could replace the word "species" with "family" in your blurb.

Those are awesome. I prefer more bizarre alien life than the more humanoid types. I'll have these on my radar.

Open Fire Figures07 May 2014 2:16 p.m. PST

Hi Guys,

More sightings have been reported….

Hive Genus : Large and capable of absorbing huge amounts of damage, these monsters have been seen directing packs of drones and also operating in groups providing the Cnidocytes with a deadly shock force

Also sighted, the Blaster Genus. These creatures fire medium range bio-projectiles. Capable of generating their own "ammunition" the can lay down a withering wall of fire.

The final new sighting are the Spore Genus. These have been observed to be completely unthinking, unless a Hive Genus is nearby, otherwise they move randomly. They are also unable to defend themselves or attack any prey. The feed upon any bio matter their tentacles happen to pass over as they move. At first thought to be a relatively low threat it was observed the Spore Genus emits an almost invisible mist as they move. Only when they group together and move en mass does their fog become visible. Any creature caught within it slows and will soon pass out. The Spore Genus can then feed as they creep over their unconscious victims.

[

More to come in the next few days….

And some scale / comparison shots.

[

Cheers!

These are super groovy.

A starter set would be the coolness.

Open Fire Figures08 May 2014 11:08 a.m. PST

Another sighting… this time a Super Heavy Genus.

Towering over the battlefield at nearly 7 times the height of a human this beast is a fearsome combat foe and is also capable of firing heavy bio shells from its dorsal cannon as it moves forward. Its often seen with an accompanying swarm of Shield and Drone Genus.

This big beast measures in at approx 70mm.

More to come tomorrow!

tsofian08 May 2014 3:34 p.m. PST
