Yurp, stick him with the pointy end!

Fill it with SPOILERS, fans. Anyone upset by them should not be clicking on obvious threads like this.

Anyway, I was glad to see no Bran/Jon reunion. It's obvious that the writers have to keep faces on the screen where in the books, Bran has a rather boring journey.
He has an appointment with Brynden Rivers coming up.

I also like Brienne's "You did WHAT to a member of the Kingsguard?"
"Well, he was one of the slower ones, Ser…. My Lady."

And a boy loves his dog.

Dan Wideman II05 May 2014 8:24 a.m. PST

That was one of the more gruesome deaths I can recall seeing. I have to admit that I actually recoiled a bit when the blade popped out of no where.

Then I had the same thought you did, OFM. "That's how to end a bad guy."

I also agree with the Jon/Ghost reunion.

I've been thinking about the whole Jon/Ghost thing. Remember way back when they found the wolves and one of Ned's men was going to kill Ghost because he was the runt? Now ghost is one of the more successful of the wolves. He's alive, and he's doing wolfy things helping his master.

I've always wondered if Martin plans the wolves successes and fates to be an analogy for their kid's fate.

SPOILERS>>>>>>just in case you are still reading and care

Robb: Robb is really really Ned's son. He does the same thing dad did following his code even when it will lead to disaster. He dies badly, helplessly slaughtered as does his wolf.

Jon: See above

Sansa: Sansa essentially betrays the family on the King's road siding with the Lannisters. She becomes unworthy of being Lady's master and Lady dies at the hand of someone she trusts blindly ignoring her impending fate. Just as Sansa goes from one person using her to the next with little/no backbone.

Arya: Numerea is as wild as her mistress, growing into a killer of men that roams the countryside leading a band of lesser wolves. It sure seems that's where Arya's headed. They are also both lost and wandering until Arya gets to Braavos and Numerea gets a pack.

Bran: In the books (from what I remember) summer is the most calm of the wolves. Maybe because he frequently has Bran in his head, he seems somewhat smarter about a lot of things. Because Bran is a Warg they are the closest of the pairs.

Rikkon: It's hard to tell where this one is going, but Shaggy Dog seems to be affecting Rikkon more than the other way around. Both are halfway to being wildlings.

So thought? Anyone else see the parallels between master and wolf? Anyone else think Martin has totally forgotten he set this up? As foretelling as the finding the pups was I thought the wolves would be far more important.

I read something the other day about Ghost. If you follow the R + L = J "theory", the albino Ghost is a … Targaryean! Just like Jon's real Pa!

Arya also wargs Nymeria in her dreams in Bravos. Obviously not to the extent as Bran, though. When the series started and I simultaneously started reading the books, I hoped for a reunion between Arya and her doggie. I can see a sentimental reunion when and if Arya reunites with a Stark. Any Stark.

There's a whole lot of "theories" out there about the proximity of Ghost when Jon has his Ides of March moment. What a cliffhanger that is, and if Martin puts the resolution off until Book 7, he will Bleeped text off an awful lot of people.

Dan, I think that you're right about the wolves, after all the Dire Wolf is the symbol of the Starks.

Tango0105 May 2014 11:36 a.m. PST

Where is Summer?
Hodor wasn't wounded badly in his leg?

Kalesse can managed to ship 12.000 men to Westeros and decided to stay and rule over the slave cities?!!!
So, she never go to Kingslanding to claim her throne!??

In the "dead" list of Arya… his companion of rute, was from the beginning?
Why she cannot find her dog?

Sansa is the person with the most worst luck of all characters!! (smile).

Good chapter.

Yes, Hodor was badly wounded in the leg. So? This is TV.
The dragon lady is staying there and "ruling" because in the books the dragon matured faster than the political scene was ready for to come. So Martin has to come up with something for her to do.

Arya had to drive off her wolf to keep the Lannisters from killing her.

In the books there is a whole series of vignettes with Arya's dog as she does the warg thing in her dreams numerous times.

The problem the books have is that books 4 and 5 are split and only half the characters appear in either and they happen at the same time frame. Therefore in either book you really don't get a lot going on with some very major characters. Danerys is basically absent from almost all of Book 4 and then takes front and center for most of Book 5.

The series has an advantage in that it doesn't have to split the characters that way, and a disadvantage as all the new characters in the books will mean less and less screen time for people you really want to see.

The series will write scenes for fan favorites or for actors they want to keep around regardless of their frequency of appearance in the books. See Alfie Allen as Theon. Some actors they feel comfortable with dragging in just as needed. Lysa and Sweetrobin, Ser Alliser and Janos Slynt etc. The writers will do what's best for the show, with the books as guidance.

Thanks for your guidance boys.
