That was one of the more gruesome deaths I can recall seeing. I have to admit that I actually recoiled a bit when the blade popped out of no where.
Then I had the same thought you did, OFM. "That's how to end a bad guy."
I also agree with the Jon/Ghost reunion.
I've been thinking about the whole Jon/Ghost thing. Remember way back when they found the wolves and one of Ned's men was going to kill Ghost because he was the runt? Now ghost is one of the more successful of the wolves. He's alive, and he's doing wolfy things helping his master.
I've always wondered if Martin plans the wolves successes and fates to be an analogy for their kid's fate.
SPOILERS>>>>>>just in case you are still reading and care
Robb: Robb is really really Ned's son. He does the same thing dad did following his code even when it will lead to disaster. He dies badly, helplessly slaughtered as does his wolf.
Jon: See above
Sansa: Sansa essentially betrays the family on the King's road siding with the Lannisters. She becomes unworthy of being Lady's master and Lady dies at the hand of someone she trusts blindly ignoring her impending fate. Just as Sansa goes from one person using her to the next with little/no backbone.
Arya: Numerea is as wild as her mistress, growing into a killer of men that roams the countryside leading a band of lesser wolves. It sure seems that's where Arya's headed. They are also both lost and wandering until Arya gets to Braavos and Numerea gets a pack.
Bran: In the books (from what I remember) summer is the most calm of the wolves. Maybe because he frequently has Bran in his head, he seems somewhat smarter about a lot of things. Because Bran is a Warg they are the closest of the pairs.
Rikkon: It's hard to tell where this one is going, but Shaggy Dog seems to be affecting Rikkon more than the other way around. Both are halfway to being wildlings.
So thought? Anyone else see the parallels between master and wolf? Anyone else think Martin has totally forgotten he set this up? As foretelling as the finding the pups was I thought the wolves would be far more important.
