Hi,

I've been starting a sic fi project and to get to know some basics about firefight tactics, a fellow wargamer has kindly set up some scenarios of Force on Force. I'm coming from medievals, so I'm on a steep learning curve :-)

For an AAR, see
link

It seems that the scenarios from the Classified book are though nuts to crack!

Cheers,
Shandy

Hey guys Please see suppression fire Page 17,41,47 and page 161 main rule book Osprey edition. Also the actual mechanic on pages 41,and 66-67.
Any unit no matter how elite will get shot to pieces by large numbers of enemy troops. so you learn to "slice the pie" by constant movement and your superior training alow you to break contact by use of suppresive fire and when oppurtunity presents killing fire on select targets. These tactics slice the Pie into smaller pieces that your guys can suppress and discourage from getting to close. Some examples include any movie that portrays the standard peel back…IOW declare suppresive fire instead of normal fire you lose 2 die but one 4+ will result in the bad guys taking a suppresion check which if they fail will cause a negative die shift to either fire or movement, So they wont fire as effectively cause less casualties or move to slow to catch you.

whoa Mohamed has the right of it. When I wrote those two scenarios, the playtesters initially had a tough time with the US forces. But suppression fire and movement are the way to win in both.

Thanks for the tips – we will try that next time.
