All, I'm playtesting the new rules "Some Corner of a Foreign Field," for Matt, AKA Invented Regiment. The rules are specifically written for moderns, so I regret to say I used them with WWII forces due to the lack of having stuff ready that made sense for these rules (I really wish my Vietnam stuff was finished, or that I had singly based some Brit, US, or French modern forces to face off against my terrorists). In any case, I got two games in, and they were a lot of fun, despite getting my butt kicked in the second one (will post later).
Here's an overview of the board, somewhere in the British sector, Normandy, July 1944, north is 'up.' A Brit reinforced squad is conducting a combat patrol to locate and destroy the German machine-gun position at top right. The Germans have a couple pickets just east of the crossroads, and a couple more southeast of the crossroads.
Brit start positions, with Bren group at top left and Rifle Group on the road moving east.
It gets quite hot at the crossroads
And the Bren Group gets cut to pieces by the MG-42
But the good Sergeant (far right, with a ton of 'stress') is able to push the issue and force the Germans to quit the field. For the rest of the write up and a lot more pics, please visit the blog at: link Stay tuned for another one! V/R, Jack |

Nice one Jack
looks like the rules are running smooth for you
I looked at the German Corporal, who didn't have a black bead next to him, and I thought, "Holy Crap, I forgot to activate him!" Would it be fair to say that there are a lot of status markers required for the game
or do you just like the look of all the pretty colours? I hope you don't mind one slight criticism
but looking over the photos there does seem to be a slight lack of yellow balls
lots of black, and green and it's fairly obvious you do seem to favour pink (
which is fine I guess) |

Hey every one reading this I did a trade with Just Jack and I came out way ahead on it, so I gave him a good trader star and urge yall to do the same. He can have as many stars as he wants if he trades some of those nice coloured beads he has

Kyote-John: Thanks brother, I appreciate it. And tell Panda-John I'm not talking to him. Panda-John: The rules are running just fine, I screw things up all the time, nothing to do with these particular rules ;) There are indeed a lot of status marker in this game. Not usually a big fan of that much stuff on the table, but they make sense and I've gotten used to them. On that note, I had no idea you had such an affinity for yellow balls, I'll see what I can do. If you want some beads, all you have to do is ask. Hope you guys liked the fights; if I'm going to keep this up I need to start a new campaign. You know I can't stand 'one-off' battles. I was thinking about re-starting 'All Americans' in Italy, whaddaya think? Other batrep is now posted. V/R, Jack |
