hmmmm,

I would start with black, then brush over with lighter shades of green, then lighten it with final highlights and dry brushing of white..

for some reason the green undertone seems to make them more ghostly?

Hi,

I did some ghosts recently, but the method I used was to base in GW Space Wolf Grey + White (about a 50/50 mix; SW Grey is a light blue gray), shade in SW Grey, and then highlight in pure white. The green idea isn't bad, and if I were to do that, I'd pick up a bottle of Folkart glow-in-the-dark paint for the highlights!

My suggestion also. That glow in the dark paint I put on everything when I was a kid. I'm sure it's still available.

I would have said about the same as the guys above. Never thought of glow in the dark paint, though!

Different cultures have different concepts of what ghosts look like. I'd check to see what the humans the ghosts will interact with would have believed. For instance, I think if you wanted to Odysseus' visit to the Greek Underworld, painting the figures as normal, then giving them a light dusting of white or very light gray would be a good way to go. I recently bought a Viking ghost I pllan to paint in subdued colors then add a pale gray dry brush.
